New images of Rhys Millen's mid-engine V8 RM460 Genesis Coupe

Last week we first learned about the RM460, the mid-engine V8-powered Hyundai Genesis Coupe that is currently under construction at the shop of Rhys Millen Racing. Millen just a sent us a couple more photos of the progress being made on the car as the crew gets ready for its debut at this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas. The photo above shows the first and possibly only Genesis coupe with a rear hatch. Along the sides the vents to release hot air from the engine compartment are clearly visible.
The other shot we received shows the rear sub-frame carrying the engine block and transaxle. The sub-frame was removed to finish up the welding in spots that were inaccessible while it was installed in the body. By the time you read this, the completed engine should be installed back in the car so that the fabrication of the rear bulkhead can be completed. By the time it's completed, this should be one hell of a ride.

Interesting project I suppose, but I just don't get the purpose. I suppose the purpose is nothing more then just because. After all, it is a real expensive project on a car that will still be ugly when they are done :)

I guess it's cool and all. But I wouldn't call any of Rhys Millen's cars a Hyundai..

Obviously it's just tape to prevent scratches, but are they really going to cut out the "kink" under the rear 1/4 window??

There are reports that the next gen Genesis coupe will include a Tau V-8 variant.

The tau v8 was supposed to be in the current gen Genesis Coupe. The reason its not is because Hyundai just couldn't get it to fit.

RM460 = "R"ear drive "M"id engine. that fact that rhys' initials are the same are mere coincidence ;)
