E30 M3 V10 vs. V8-powered E92 M3 -- Click above to view the video after the jump

Ah, the Swedes, with their eye for tuning and their wide open spaces to run in. A gent named Johan stuck an M-Division S85 V10 in an E30 M3, and the results look nothing short of devastating. No surprise when you add Big Power + Light Car. Stack it up against a current M3 on a runway, and what you have is a cameraman trying to film a black speck in the distance. According to and M5Board forum user the M3 V10 got up to 288 km (179 mph) during the run. Follow the jump to watch the video and see it happen.

If any of you have the opportunity ; get one! E30 M3 is a great investment in life. I had a silver one in college and a black one in Presidio of Monterey in 98-99.

I agree, Smartacus... when I was in college I would see one randomly driving through town, and I'd get a "power bulge" every time I heard that lumpy exhaust note.

One of my roommates in Sandy Eggo had an E30 325i (an '87, I believe) with essentially an M3 suspension setup and brakes, some minor engine tweaks, and a tastefully cleaned-up exterior.

My '02 GTI 1.8T gave it a run for its money, but man, that E30 is a really, really good looking car (especially with what Jason did to his... silver car with body-colored grille, sweet custom hand-painted pinstripes, BBS RGR-type wheels, and not much else).

I've always loved the "boy racer with a purpose" E30 M3... time to think twice about the 401(k) and just live the dream.

Oh yeah, gotta love those Swedes... "Bork, bork, bork!"

That looks like a standard E92 3 Series, not an M3.

if you watch the video again and you look at the reflection of the e92 m3 on the body of the e30 m3 u can clearly see the m3 fender grille not to mention the previously mentioned hints above.

It's an M3. You can tell by the side mirror and the power bulge on the hood. Plus, it says "BMW M3 V8 6-Speed" in the upper right hand corner of the video...

I need to use the term "power bulge" more often
        • 5 Years Ago
except for the huge bump in the middle of the hood

That E30 V10 was NUTS!!! Thats gotta be the best shape of any M3 or BMW for that matter ever! My boss at work has a current M3 V8 and its a nugget... The earlier M3's were much much better imo!

      Seriously awesome!

Anything that can pull on a E92 like it was standing still is a seriously impressive piece of engineering. Sounded very nice too.
I pulled from an E92 on the highway without issue, it isn't that hard (still or otherwise). especially with a german engineered v10.

        The ultimate sleeper. L-O-V-E..... IT!
        Brilliantly done. WOW.

The smoothness of acceleration is just beautiful. And the overall engine exhaust tune is slick.

I could really get into some serious legal trouble with the Ohio State Highway Patrol in the V10 M3.

Sweet, yes. Ultimate sleeper? Not quite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8R5BwUVYqc

I said bye bye to the E30 before they even started. That E30 must weigh like 1000lbs less than the E90, add a V10 to the equation.......yea
