VIDEO: V10-powered E30 M3 vs. V8-powered E92 M3
E30 M3 V10 vs. V8-powered E92 M3 -- Click above to view the video after the jump
Ah, the Swedes, with their eye for tuning and their wide open spaces to run in. A gent named Johan stuck an M-Division S85 V10 in an E30 M3, and the results look nothing short of devastating. No surprise when you add Big Power + Light Car. Stack it up against a current M3 on a runway, and what you have is a cameraman trying to film a black speck in the distance. According to and M5Board forum user the M3 V10 got up to 288 km (179 mph) during the run. Follow the jump to watch the video and see it happen.

just a word to the wise, don't race a car that has drag radials, not even k-cars

The smoothness of acceleration is just beautiful. And the overall engine exhaust tune is slick.
I could really get into some serious legal trouble with the Ohio State Highway Patrol in the V10 M3.

Those crazy Swedes indeed. Gotta love it.

Anything that can pull on a E92 like it was standing still is a seriously impressive piece of engineering. Sounded very nice too.

I pulled from an E92 on the highway without issue, it isn't that hard (still or otherwise). especially with a german engineered v10.
IK 5:54PM (9/22/2009)
imo, putting that v10 into the e30m doesn't make too much sense
the whole weight distribution, handling and driving characteristics are thrown out the window
it would have made more sense to put the engine into an e34 M5
or better yet, to put in an f20C (to e30)

I agreed with you until you said F20 into an E30 BMW. No. Just...No.

That would defeat the whole purpose of this exercise. I personally love the way the project is done. Very glad the guy decided not to stick on bunch of fiberglass and wings to the car too.

It doesn't make sense... and this makes me like it more.

@IK
why repalcing a 4banger with a 4banger with the same power?
The most powerfull enigne in the M3 e30 was the S14 with 238hp 4zyl n/a build in 1990...
Next to that that the BMW engine has the same hp it has more torque than the Honda engine ...and more important it sound so much better than any Honda 4 banger...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bY1bNBGX5rw
the street version sound exactly the same like the e30 DTM touring race car... powered by the same engine with ~360hp 4banger n/a
IK 2:05AM (9/23/2009)
not f20c to the m3, but to a regular e30
it's better to keep e30 m3s the way they are - it's not like they're easy to find

Holy crap that thing is fast.

Quite the sleeper...Looks like it was beautifully put together it too. Hope they uprated the suspension though. The E92s could surprise you in a nasty way at the limit with 200hp, so I can only imagine what it does with 500.
