Oh how they laughed when we suggested chroming an Audi R8. Of course, our plan was to use a couple of rattle cans and a few rolls of blue tape to git er done. Right before screaming, "Hey y'all, watch this!" and launching the R8 off a cliff. But we're a bunch of crude Americans, not nearly as stylish as our European pals that don ties to take a shower. Regardless, Audi went ahead and pulled the shiny metal trigger. The all Dubai'd-out R8 now joins the ranks of such notable taste-setters as the Bugatti Veyron Autostadt special edition, gold-mirror-finish Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, Chrome SLR, etc. Yeah, we're talking smack. Partly out of jealousy, partly out of thinking what kind of a royal jackass would drive around in a mirrored car? A Kanye West-sized one, we'd think. Anyhow, "enjoy" the gallery.

Normally I don't like this kind of thing, but the R8's shape really lends itself to the chrome look.

i always wanted a car like this when i was a kid , the chrome R8 actually looks good, it has a very stylish futuristic look.

really it should be brushed aluminum like the racing Auto Unions of the 30s the Type C and Type C Streamliner are works of art, and the brushed aluminum look would have gone well on the R8

@LesPaul1 - lol. being handed the keys to a V10 at Ingolstadt will do that to you. I'd never buy this, but it looks better than the chrome gallardo which pops up at the gumball each year:

The shape, as I already commented, simply lends itself better to the treatment. I don't love it, I'd never own it, but it's less offensive than a chrome gallardo or ferrari.

That is a lot of reflectivity.
DO NOT drive that car in sunlight, you will bake and blind other drivers, and possibly yourself, if the angle is right.
Interesting... but I have to say I would much rather go the charcoal gray, clear-coated carbon-fiber, and gloss black triple tone-on-tone, with some SR-71 like matte red outlining on the front grille and the side-blades, and black CH-R BBS wheels... maybe even center-lock, if possible... THAT would be my ideal R8.

Looks can be deceiving. Probably not a true painted chrome car, just a factory R8 with a vehicle wrap.
