Oh Volkswagen. How is it that the automaker of the people makes what just might be the sleekest, sexiest sedan in the world? No offense to A-M's Rapide, but the Volkswagen CC is not a two-door coupe with a stretch and some rear-doors grafted on. The CC is clean sheet, or at least as clean sheet as the Passat's hard points allow for. And now with the CC R, it's even better looking. And no, we're still not buying the four-door coupe marketing nonsense, no matter how many times someone quotes Wikipedia at us. The CC R is dreamboat sedan.
Let's get the obvious out of the way: CC R – tee hee hee. We can't imagine the "there's a bad moon on the right" jokes ever ceasing. That's mindless naming conventions for you. Aside from that, the R badge (or R-line as they call it here in the land of yummy sausage, pickled everything and friendly, frisky fräuleins) is very identical to Audi's S-line. So all show and no go. But if you're going to do it...

Hey Autoblog, you know it's "There's a bad moon on the RISE," right? Hence the title of the song, "Bad Moon Rising." Yet another fail.
But I agree with above, it totally sounds like "there's a bathroom on the right."

When I first saw the CC at the dealership I was smitten. But can I just ask who's bright idea was it to leave out a manual transmission option for those of us who want (need) all-wheel-drive? How I would love to see a CC with the V6, 4-Motion, and a nice 6-Speed manual as a possible configuration.
Oh well, I guess the folks at HPA Motorsports will be able to fix VW's oversight... for a pretty hefty fee, mind you.

its got that Mercedes S-class grove along the side which is actually quite nice. stanadrd interior but also nice. the car looks very nice.
what ive noticed lately is that loads of cars are being built for 4 people with the center at the back being used for a center console or an armrest etc. quite a good idea actually. room for a lot more gadgets.
saves me having to convert a car into a 4 seater like i was planning too ages ago..

You can thank Consumer Reports and Car and Driver 10 Best for keeping US car shoppers away from VW showrooms and drawing them into Honda and Toyota showrooms. But thats not really fair: if VW built its vehicles to the same level of reliability as Honda and Toyota, the scene would be much different. Last time I checked the cultural consensus, I did not hear any complaints about check engine lights and faulty [name of obscure engine part here] from Accord and Camry owners.
