VIDEO: Bugatti offers up promotional video on Galibier concept sedan
Click above to watch the video after the jump
We've seen the pics; we've read the details. Now, it's time for video, and Bugatti seems to have released exactly what we're looking for. The looks of the French supercar maker's Galibier concept are nothing if not striking and controversial, but at the level Bugatti's playing at those descriptors are certainly vastly preferable to boring and staid.
Bugatti says the Galibier's unique dark carbon fiber skin shines blue when illuminated, and you can see that effect much better on video than with static images. Pay special attention to the hood, which features twin side-by-side portals to access the front-mounted, ethanol-burning W16 engine. We could do without the breathless narrator, but as promotional material, we've come to expect nothing less. Hit the jump to watch the video. Thanks for the tip, Slavich!

Looks like it's made of Panamera. And maybe it is.. The ways of VW are inscrutable ;)

I don't like it, it's too tall to be elegant. They should have made a Veyron with a longer hood and 4 doors, intead of pasting Veyron styling onto a Bentley. I like the split on the rear and on the hood, I also think that the interior is very nice, original and shows good taste. But overall the proportions are wrong. Bugatti should not badge engineer a Bentley. They should built a piece of art, however impractical, not another comfy hearse for executives.

maybe more like a long four-door Bentley Continental.
disappointing...

BTW, that LCD screen should disappear, it looks like a Costco quality DVD player glued onto the dash.

since aparently everyone became a stilist expert on this post, I shall say too that at first this car didn´t looked any good at all, but taking the proper time, everything starts to make sense. The back may look a little strange, but once you realize the classic profile and the old Bugattis dna, it realy looks well made. The only thing I didn´t really thing that gone right was the headlamps that seems too much last gen VW (like the veyron as well, but this bein much more harmonic)

too much chrome
too tall
too much wood in the interior
too tough to win the lottery to put one in my manor garage.
I hope it has ridiculous stats like it's little sister

Too Tall? Bentley styling? What are ya'll smoking?
It's a dark video that shows parts of the car, not the whole. From what it does show... the bottom of the drivers windows look to probably be 2inches higher then the top of the wheels. and the greenhouse is quite short (maybe 3/4 of the height below the beltline). I'd venture to guess it's probably all of 3-4inches taller then a Veryon, which is still a very short car... but thats a big guess.
I'm excited to see what it looks like in some nice lit photos. The headlights look great, and the front grill is classic bugatti. I like.

Ignore what I said. Totally overlooked the photos.
I still don't think it's too tall. But it's def. not Veryon short. I'd take one in black if I struck Oil tomorrow.

What a stunning and very unique car. It looks to be as pure and clean as the veyron, hopefully it rides and drives like one.
I love the blue carbon fiber they used in the sang bleu and this looks fairly similar. Well done Bugatti.

WTF??? no it most certainly does NOT meet my wildest dreams, it's like an incredibly turbocharged toyota. BOOOOOO

Man, who said that a Bugatti is suppose to blow your mind... its suppose to melt your brain.

That side view is pretty horrid. Back reminds me of the Chrysler Crossfire or, as Clarkson said, a dog doing it's #2's.
Bad, bad, bad. It's a shame, they could have fixed the problem by pushing the rear axle further back.... I hope it's at least justified by being a hatchback.

Clarkson has the discerning abilities of a 4 year old. That curved back is inspired by the 'Clipper' styling of the '40s. In a way this style is the gradparent of that Jensen hatch you have for your avatar.
ckm 4:47AM (9/15/2009)
Sorry, but the Jensen hatch is WAY nicer than the Bugatti ugliness. It may be inspired by something, but it doesn't mean it deserves any less derision.
Ugly is ugly, and it is almost exactly the same profile as a Crossfire.
Arkz 11:10AM (9/15/2009)
Who said you have to buy one OH WAIT!!! You can't. So just keep enjoying that Jensen of yours.

lose the rediculous chrome sides and it might look better. ugh

No doubt a production version would likely be two-toned painted. Or monochrome if special ordered that way.
I am having a hard time understanding the negativity toward this car.
The lines are flowing and make perfect sense to look at.
It is a throw-back to early automotive stylistic trends, just after people realized that cars could be dressed in sculpture, not just in sheet metal boxed up like a horseless carriage. It looks much more fluid of form than most boxy cars, but not needlessly bloated, and pulls that off better than Panamera does.
the 8 pipes is a gimmick, and a bit childish on such a car, where the exhaust outlets should be formed and integrated into the body's details, not a comparative bragging-rights statement. (I have more exhaust tips than you do.)
The hood treatment is more of a subtle statement. Most of these cars will not be DIY cars, getting their oil changed in the garage, on ramps. These will almost exclusively be handled by technicians at a service center, likely arranged and handled by the staff of the owner. The car will be worked on on a lift, from underneath, and dozens of labor hours are not really a problem in that market. Some buyers would think less of it if it were considered economical in any way, including service costs.
The double hood just used as a car show conversation piece, to show off a 16 cylinder turbocharged engine to the other bourgeoisie blue-bloods.
This is a rolling crafted piece of art, not a car that the guy down the street bought with his corporate bonus. Polished aluminum bodywork is not out of place on a piece of metal and composite carbon fiber formed sculpture that just happens to move under it's own power in the manner of a luxury car. It is a different mind-set.

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. What a fantastic profile. The polished aluminum is kinda gaudy but it does a fantastic job of framing the car's shape. I'm not a fan of the hatchback shape found on the Panamera or the 5 Series GT but it works wonderfully (at least in my opinion) here.

The hood flaps don't interest me as much as the headlights which resemble human eyes.
