Frankfurt Preview: Renault's four electric concepts from the top

A few months ago, Renault announced plans to bring three electric vehicles to the Frankfurt Motor Show: production versions of all-electric Megane and Kangoo, plus a new concept EV. Turns out, we're going to be treated to four all-electric concepts next week in Germany.
Details remain slim, but Renault says it will debut a new range called Renault Zero Emission next week and has released the bird's eye view teaser seen above. The most unusual shape belongs to the tiny one-seater on the left. The others look like traditional concept car goodies, full of designs that will never make it to the real world. Details in the press release below the fold.

I hope number four is what it looks like... lots of small solar cells embedded in a pattern in that long glass roof. Completely impractical but it would look pretty spiffy. I'm looking forward to all of them though, and I think the Kangoo would actually be a good platform for them to start with. Performance isn't a key issue, there's plenty of space for them to work with, and they're often used for many short inner-city journeys.
What with all the new 'scandal' surrounding them in F1 it's not unrealistic that they might pull out before long... at least they will have somewhere interesting to direct all that spare cash.

You know, I bicycle and ride the bus to work, but looking at that single person electric car, the smallest one, that seems like it could be an interesting mode of transportation. They already make electric motors for bicycles that go in the wheel hubs and with light peddling you can reach 27 mph. Put a similarly proportioned electric motor in each wheel hub of that single person size vehicle so maybe it can reach 45 mph, allow for it to be charged from a plug and give me some peddles do give it a slight charge maintenance as I'm going along, and that might be a fun, fast, and healthy way to get to work. Of course, I wouldn't pay more than $8k for something like that, but I'm way too thrifty to be the demographic. Some people pay more than $8k for their road bicycles.
