2011 Infiniti QX56 - Click either image for a gallery

The 2011 Infiniti QX56 went on display in the Middle East and some stealthy soul caught a couple of close-up pics from the front and rear three-quarter. It's a much smoother vehicle than the one it replaces, ditching the arcs for hard angles. It also sheds finicky styling cues like the current vehicle's slightly contorted C-pillar arrangement, going for an uninterrupted window line rimmed by a chrome strip. Head on, though, it's grille-tastic.

Body elements like flaring arches are more integrated, and the chrome strip running down the side has been omitted. The rear is an FX-ified version of the new Nissan Patrol, and the package rides on anice set of Infiniti's trademark wheels. We aren't sure if it will turn the QX56's sales numbers around, but stranger things have happened... Hat tip to Drew

Wow - Infiniti reinvents the catbox

Wow! That is seriously such a design mishmash that it can't be called stylish. Love the Escalade Fender vent copies and the "how can we put G37 headlights on something else and make people like it" design - NOT!

Give it a Rolls Royce Phantom grill. and New Infiniti M tail light. ohh forgot 1 thing, Can anyone change its rear side mirror? The rear side mirrors look like a Cheap Kia Soul.

Man the Japanse are really going non-US-traditional in terms of car design. With a lof of strange angles and spaces between elements. The gap between the small headlight and the grill is really shocking. I also don't care for the Maxima simple, boring, round curve bumper.

      It's interesting?

      I suppose that's a compliment.

        @Mike

No Way! I was thinking the SAME thing when I saw it on the front page. Laughed so hard when I saw you posted it!

who knew infiniti made a tank?

Wow. It really IS ugly. I don't like it. Then again, I DO like the current model - and most people don't like that either.. Maybe it's just the pictures but it looks a lot smaller to me.. Maybe the interior is very nice. When the original QX56 first came out, it's interior was a good bit nicer than most other full-size SUVs. Quite powerful as well.. It even handled nicely.. I wonder what this one will be like...

Everybody who quotes the Fishbone song gets it wrong.

Mike gets voted up, even though that is stuck in my head now.

Hmmm... my first impression is actually positive, compared to everyone elses comments. This large SUV actually looks good, better than the Lexus version.
It is, well its nothing more then a tweaked nissan Patrol (2010) but hey now might give the Lexus version of the Land Cruiser a run for its money, I'm hoping they send us a new "Armada" as a Nissan Patrol or just the Patrol doesn't matter.

        kudos Nissan

It kind of reminds me of the assassin-alien thing from The Last Starfighter:

This thing makes the Crosstour look like a work of art.
No. Don't get ahead of yourself.
hey don't go all crazy now. We all know the Crosstour is the epitome of bad design. This just... Won't ever be on the list of pretty cars.

Looks like they took a G37 and blew it up like a balloon...
I think they also take out G37's eyes, and put Maxima's eyes in.

In the Patrol form, the lines looks nice and evenly distributed, but the Infiniti from end makes it looks really awkward. You can put a curvy grille on something very flat.
I suggest that Nissan should leave the Patrol lights and grill and replace the Nissan emblem with an Infiniti logo.

This thing is gorgeous! I love the look sooo much! It looks like the new FX and I love the FX. This thing is unique and sexy. For those that don't like it and call it ugly need to look elsewhere. Just like the Honda Crosstour, it's not for everyone and that's a good thing. I love to see car companies like Acura or Infiniti or BMW and taking chances and putting out cars that are unique and different and don't follow the conventional norm. Go Infiniti!
