Looks like it'll be an all-out supercar showdown next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show. In addition to the McLaren MP4-12C and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG – not to mention the Ferrari 458 Italia – Lamborghini will reportedly be showing off the roadster version of its million-plus dollar Reventón.
Sporting the same stealth fighter-inspired angular bodywork as the standard Reventón that was unveiled two years ago at the same auto show, the new topless Lambo will reportedly make use of its all-wheel drive system to help the run to 60 in just 3.4 seconds. Top speed is expected to be well over 200 miles per hour, as you'd expect from an Italian supercar with a mid-mounted 650-horsepower V12 powerplant.
Stay tuned for live shots and official details as the festivities in Frankfurt draw ever closer, but in the meantime, be sure to check out our gallery of images below. Thanks to everyone for the tips!

Yeah, I looked under the definition for "badass" in the dictionary the other day and to my surprise, I saw this!

For the price tag, Lamborghini should have made this car beat the Veryon just for bragging rights.
Otherwise, it's just a cool looking expensive car.

It's a special edition of the murcie, just like all the rare old cars you see at autoshows.
To beat the veyron VW would need to build a brand new car... Which they did with the veyron.. they'd need to spend hundreds of millions, which they did with the veyron... and they'd need to step on their own toes (VW's decided bugatti is above lambo).
There have been limited production run rebodied cars like for ages, the zagatos, etc. This is just a new iteration of that grand tradition.

Every time an article on the Reventon comes up, someone always has to bring up the price and performance of the thing. People who buy care about neither. It's exclusive, it' s collectible, and it;s beautiful. Thats enough to justify the price. Want a fast car? Buy a Viper ACR.

Well nothing shows exclusivity like holding some sort of title or record to show just how special you really are. I mean there should always be a story behind each rare collectable a rich person owns. Just saying that its cool looking isn't enough.

Enthusiast dream week? New McLaren, Mercedes SLS, R8 Roadster....I think yes. Wish I was in Frankfurt this year.

ugh, so true, well on all but the sls. Give me an R8 roadster and the new McLaren, those are the only two cars I'd need. :)

Finally a supercar that looks like a supercar.

So much for "The horsepower battle is over, time to focus on efficiency."
Frankfurt has a truckload of super cars this year =S.

Actually, supercars are some of the most efficient cars in the world (certainly more so than the average hybrid or econobox). This is something that has always baffled me. Most cars let around 14 percent of the vehicles total energy just go to waste in the form of drag, engine friction, and general inefficiencies. Supercars cut off all the little inefficiencies and the result is amazing.
Plus I'd say this looks a little more aggressive than the new "aggressive" Prius.

I wonder if the roof is still a bitch to deal with...

its based off the murcielago...of course it is! but nobody cares cause if it might rain, take one of the other 50 or so cars you probably own if you can afford it.
Venom 2:23PM (9/10/2009)
This car is gorgeous and awesome.
I agree with Javanese, why can't Lamborghini make a roof that works for this car?

I would have thought this was the coolest car ever, when I was 13.
Now, it's just kind of embarrassing. Where Bugatti has gone elegant and insanely high performance, Lamborghini is pursuing the more-ducts-more-vents approach. It just needs a triplane style wing on the back to be complete. And maybe Knight Rider lights in front.
