A couple of weeks ago, we challenged you to take a shot at a written driving test. The test wasn't designed for rocket scientists, but a few of you justifiably complained about the confusing verbiage in some of the questions, and the fact that some laws vary from state to state. Yeah, some of you flunked.
Moving forward, the folks over at AutoInsurance.org have offered us a new exam -- based simply on road signs. This should be easy. After all, road signs are designed to be comprehended at a glace, day or night, in rain or shine, even if English is your fourth language.
Toss your apprehensions aside. This 19-question quiz won't bewilder or baffle you with a superfluity of words, and the pictographs generally mean the same thing in all municipalities. So no excuses this time... Go ahead, take the quiz.

I missed the last one too :( I guessed on the HM one and got it right luckily (Never saw one of those signs in PA.....ever) but I knew everything else. The last one I just read the wording wrong.

Yeah I misread the clearance question, 95%, not nearly as tough as the first one with the wording of the questions/answers... Saw the HM sign around Baltimore, I think, otherwise, I would have had tp hazard a guess...

I got 95% missed the HM sign - I'm from India - Looks like the US signs are easy to comprehend

I got an 84% because I've never seen the first one before,I jumped the gun and picked the first curvy road answer I could find for one road, and because I picked "railroad crossing ahead" before seeing the more specific "railroad crossing after the next right turn" answer.
Besides the first one and the hazardous material sign(I would not want to be on that stretch of road) I understood all those signs.

Even though i missed a few question on the previous one, this one i got a 100%. The only i was truly confused about was the HM sign and that was just a blind guess from me. Turned out i was right.

HM, wtf? We simply use a diamond.
I missed HM and the downward-pointing arrows sign (too retarded for Canada, I guess).

Same problems here. We don't use HM and the sign for the arrows left and right is actually just the "stay right of obstruction" sign except there are arrows going to both sides of the island. Really, it makes a million times more sense.
I also find it funny that you guys don't use solely pictograms. Makes me think of the Top Gear review of the Caddy CTS where everything is labelled in English despite the fact that people who speak German, Italian, French, Spanish, etc would just as easily be buying the car. Especially given the percentage of Americans who speak Spanish.

the squigly arrow with the "left then right curves" and "right then left curves" for options was dumb. it just means that the road is curvy ahead, no specific order for the curves.

also, even though i got this question right, i have NEVER seen that sign for pavement turning into gravel before, and ive been on my fair share of dirt road. usually a) it says nothing or b) it has words that says "pavement ends"
