Forthcoming Mercedes-Benz E-Class convertible caught on set of Sex and the City 2
If there's one television show we love here at Autoblog, it's Sex and the City. Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda – all aflutter over noontime glasses of Kristal, gossiping about Prada, Mr. Big, converting to Judaism for all the wrong reasons and whoever/whatever Samantha humped last night. It's so fab! Just kidding, we hate that show and the ex-girlfriends that forced us to know this much about it. *Ahem.* We mention S&TC however, because when the first movie came out, it featured the then-new Mercedes-Benz GLK. And soon there will be a part 2, and that sequel is going to feature the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class convertible. How do we know? Because somebody just snapped a whole bunch of shots of Sarah Jessica Parker, her $600 Christian Louboutin T-Strap sandals, $1,800 Sylvia Drapey Hobo hand bag and a yet-to-be-released E-Class droptop on the set of Sex and the City 2.
So... is this is a trend or just a fad? We know that the Audi R8 Spider will be making its debut in Ironman 2, and to some degree Aston Martin likes to show off their latest dream boat in the latest James Bond adventure. And out of the three, we imagine that Mercedes is going to sell a heckofa lot more E-Class convertibles to Carrie Bradshaw fans than Audi/Aston Martin will sell to Tony Stark/Agent 007 aficionados. Right? Hat tip to Patrick.

I agree, Sarah Jessica Parker looks terrible.
I'd rather have sex with the E-class than with her.

Some days, she looks great. others, neeeiiiiighhh
and AB, while we can excuse knowing the plot lines, knowing the shoes and handbags, incurs a weeklong banishment from the mancave

Dammit, I came here just to make a "Why the long face?" joke and it's already the first comment. Well played, sir, well played.

I hate the new E-Class, looks a lot like a Korean car.

You mean the Korean cars that are selling in record numbers and garnering all sorts of awards?

yes, the flared rear fender is straight off of the azera and the brake lights are off of the sonata. mercedes also poached one of hyundai's chief designers.
yes, mercedes is copying hyundai now. put that in your pipe and smoke it!

That handbag is $1800? It looks like a rolled up raincoat!

A more fitting car would be a Cougar (if they were still being made).

Maybe this one will be interesting - maybe Big loses his job as a bond trader due to the credit implosion and finds himself unemployable because he is over 40 and they move to Kentucky.

There's a sequel?!?!?
I'd def pass on this...
Now Spike Jonze's "Where the WIld Things Are" theres a movie I can't wait to see - one that no car manufacturer can ruin with dubious "product placement."

Would it have killed them to get a wide angle shot of the car?!?!

Seriously. Looks more like a "teaser" shot from
Mercedes. Especially considering the market that they will be selling these cars too.

Slight tangent...
I find that the bigger a fan of SntC a girl is, the smarter she
ain't.
Every time I go out with a girl and she says "I just can't get enough
of my SntC!", it never fails that I'm not going to get any intellectual
conversation out of her at all.
The only saving grace is that fans of that show aren't prudes. How
could they be?

I don't really have a problem with new models being highlighted in new movies, as long as they are available right away (ya hear that GM?). I think the bigger concern is that they are making a sequel to S&TC. WTF?

You have to admit, MB knows how to use Hollywood to premiere it's new cars. The last gen E-class got it's first public view on Men in Black 2. The S-class was first shown in The Devil Wears Prada.
