Abt Sportline offers 600 horsepower, new look for the Audi R8 V10
After sampling the V10 version of Audi's R8, we can't imagine changing much of Audi's mid-engine road rocket if one happened to find its way into our garage. Still, there some owners will want to mess with perfection and Abt Sportline is offering a performance package that delivers an extra 75 horsepower, rounding out the total to an even 600 horsepower from the 5.2-liter V10. If those same owners deem the R8's beautiful lines lacking, they can also choose to purchase Abt's carbon fiber exterior components consisting of a new front spoiler, side sills, rear apron, rear wing, along with quad exhaust tips and BR-type five-spoke wheels. We've got to commend Abt for providing the option, but we'll pass.

PRESS RELEASE:
Ten cylinders. 600 HP. The Abt R8 5.2 FSI
These figures make the hearts of sports car drivers beat faster: 600 HP (441 kW), acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, top speed of 322 km/h. The car to which these impressive performance figures belong is the ABT R8 5.2 FSI. Its V10 engine draws plenty of power from its large 5,204 cubic centimetre capacity – all the more if ABT POWER gives it an extra boost. 75 extra HP or 55 more kW provides a powerful trust at all speeds as well as increasing the torque.
The fact that the medium-engine super sports car becomes a winner on any track is not just due to its excellent performance characteristics, but also the perfectly coordinated bodywork package. It has been designed by the DTM crew of ABT Sportsline according to the latest motorsport knowledge, including the use of high-end carbon materials. The focus was above all on the optimum distribution of weight and a systematic light-weight construction. "The 600 HP is not just intended to exist on paper, but also be available on the road", says Christian Abt. At the same time the ABT R8 thereby looks extremely dynamic. The front spoiler, side sills and rear apron outline the bodywork and give it a more powerful presence even when at a standstill. They form one unit with the distinctive rear wing and the typical ABT 4-pipe exhaust system.
The super sports car is presented on BR-type 20-inch wheels which suit the classic design. The ABT R8 5.2 FSI is a design milestone and is of course very, very fast. This is because the 600 ABT horsepower contain, what the dynamic design of the car promises.

Agreed the dual side scopes scream Saleen Mustang to me. More horsepower is always welcome but changing the body of the R8 is like modifying the Mona Lisa

those wheels are awful. that would look good on some classic RS wheels. all matte black of course.

600 horsepower is an improvement to me

Nope.
"600 HP (441 kW), acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, top speed of 322 km/h" - ABT
"525HP, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, top speed of 317 km/h" - Audi
I've not driven the ABT example, just the stocker, an improvement of just .1 seconds to sixty and 3 mph to the top speed doesn't even sound worth the upgrade. Come to think of it, the gallardo hits sixty quicker than the ABT with 40 less hp and also hits a faster top speed. Short of driving the remapped ECU, no, it doesn't sound like an improvement, not when the gallardo's faster to accelerate and has a faster top speed with less power. It doesn't sound like the most relevant of tunes.

Is it just me or does ABT manage to uglify every Audi it touches.

Damn.
600hp and does not look just like your buddy's V8 version that costs $40,000 less, I will definitely not pass.
ABT builds very nice cars.

This body kit is simply horrendous. The 600 ponies are nice though, so as long as I can just get the engine upgrade.

Its not an improvement certainly but it's one of the more tasteful ones I've seen.
So not horrendous but definitely acceptable for my tastes.

I'm not going to contreversally state my opinion on the way this car looks but one thing: this had BETTER be the new Batmobile.
