2010 Hurst Mustang to serve pace duties for Ford Racing Mustang Challenge

It's been a busy year for Hurst Performance Vehicles. They launched their limited-edition Dodge Challenger at SEMA last November, followed by the 50th Anniversary Dodge Viper, and most recently, they announced the addition of the Pontiac G8 to their lineup. Come mid-September, though, you can add one more to that list. Hurst and BFGoodrich tires have teamed up to create a one-off 2010 Mustang GT Convertible that will serve as the pace car for the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge race at Miller Motorsports Park on September 19. Afterward, the car will attend various events including SEMA, and will eventually be auctioned off for charity at the start of 2010.
Following the same themes as other Hurst vehicles, the Mustang has a spec sheet that reads nearly identical to the Challenger. The exterior gets a white and gold paint scheme accented by Hurst 20-inch forged wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich KDW tires. A supercharger lies underneath the hood (although it's a Roush roots-type rather than a Vortech centrifugal blower), that pushes the 4.6-liter V8 to 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft torque. Eibach suspension components, a Magnaflow exhaust system, Hurst Competition/Plus short throw shifter, and Katzkin leather interior round out the list of modifications. Hurst Performance Vehicles, a company who is responsible for some of the most iconic pace cars in racing history, announced today that it has partnered with BFGoodrich Tires, to create a very special supercharged 2010 Mustang convertible to serve as the official pace car for the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge event held at Miller Motorsports Park.
The BFGoodrich/Hurst Mustang pace car will debut at the last Ford Racing Mustang Challenge race of the season on Sept. 19.
After its run with the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge, this unique and highly-collectible Pace Car will make special appearances at numerous race tracks, car shows, parades and even SEMA, before being auctioned for charity in January 2010. Proceeds of the auction will go towards benefiting the newest Victory Junction Camp in Kansas City, KS to enrich the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses.
Jason and Lance Pittack, Owners of Woodhouse Auto Family of Blair, Neb. have confirmed that they will once again partner with Hurst Performance and BFGoodrich Tires, to donate the vehicle for this project.

The stunning BFGoodrich/Hurst Mustang Pace Car comes equipped with 20" BFGoodrich g-Force™ T/A® KDW tires for maximum performance and attitude; 20" Hurst polished, forged aluminum wheels and a Hurst Competition/Plus short-throw shifter with a gold anodized T-handle.
The engine pounds out 435-horsepower and 400 lb.-ft of torque, courtesy of the ROUSH Supercharger, Magnaflow stainless-steel exhaust and a K&N Air Filter. With a Hurst-tuned Eibach Suspension, coil-over adjustable shocks, springs and sway bar, this car is sure to keep people straining just to see it zoom by.

The retro Mustangs including the 2010 are beautiful and its awesome that Hurst is building a Car to the pacecar as it clearly deserves as there was never a Special Edition Mustang ever built by either Geoge Hurst or by its subsequent owners so this is long over due. This car will become a collectors items in short order. The Mustang makes the dodge challenger and the camero looks pathetic.

Why stray from a signature look?
Those wheels are designed to mimic the classic Hurst wheels, but to see them in person you realize they are more modern then they appear.
