Stillen Nissan GT-R: 620 horsepower, 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds (w/ video)
It's been more than six months since Stillen started working on their Nissan GT-R race car and we're happy to report it's finished and already on its way to Eastern Canada where it will compete in the Targa Newfoundland in a few weeks. Before the hopped-up GT-R was loaded on the trailer, Steve Millen and his crew took the car out to the El Toro Marine base for a few shakedown runs. Road and Track tagged along to record some performance numbers that, as you might expect, are nothing short of impressive.
Thanks to a huge list of performance parts, the Stillenized GT-R produces 620 horsepower at 15psi from its dual turbochargers. Perhaps more importantly, several hundred pounds have been removed thanks to a stripped interior, lots of carbon fiber body components and lightweight racing seats. The extra power and weight savings results in a 0-60 mph time of just 2.9 seconds and a 1/4 mile pass in a mere 11.0 seconds at 127.9 mph. Lateral grip is a gut-clenching 1.1g. You can see the Stillen GT-R in action in the video after the jump or browse through the high-res gallery below.

Not impressed... an escort did this a long time ago.. and the same escort can pull a trailer to 140+ mph faster than most (fast) cars..

Why Reyland builds rally cars for drag racing I'll never know.

@Clevername Skimming through that video, I didn't see anything except a straight line run. I don't think it would compete well in the Targa Newfoundland, which is what Stillen is preparing the car for.

Bout time this got on AB... It was on R&T a month or two ago. Still a beast of a car.

I seem to recall Porsche used ~50psi boost with one KKK turbo on the 962----620hp, pshaw! 20 years ago!

Well, that's one hell of a racist turbo!

Ahh the El Toro base runways. Been there in the C63. Great place to let loose.

What a monster.
This is what the GT-R Spec-V should have been.
0-60 in 2-9 seconds?
That is insane for a car with 4 seats and a trunk.
Heck, that is half a second faster than a Lambo Reventon.

This car looks like it has most of the interior stripped out. Definitely no back seats.
ropeburn 9:39PM (8/28/2009)
this car really should not be compared to a production car but to a race prepped car, like a GT2 or something.... is that what they built this for? I haven't been paying attention to Stillens projects. It looks hot... that long list of parts/suppliers adds up to an expensive project. As one of the other posters asked.... what exactly is the curb weight?
Adam Bruce 10:17PM (8/28/2009)
@ropeburn
I went to his shop and Stillen mentioned they had removed too much weight from the car and had to add some weight back in because of the rules. (I think they had over ~600 pounds off the car at one point). Another point about the Targa Newfoundland rally that this car was prepared for, the competition requires OEM tires. So this GT-R is delivering this level of performance on the stock Bridgestone tires. The Dunlops could have been used as well, but they went with Bridgestone since they offered to sponsor tires for the race. the results though are equally fantastic.
The engine has very little done to it to reliably achieve this level of power. Just some exhaust and tune, and the car is making 620hp on 91 Octane California-blend hippy juice.
I wouldn't compare this to a GT2 car at all, this was an assembly line GT-R that has been prepped in the same way any other car can be modified. Now if you want a race car, just around the corner from the Targa GT-R, Steve has his Le Man's winning 300ZX, now THAT is a race car :-)

I completely agree with you, Sofa King. This is the true GT-R Spec-V, it's really insane. 0-60 in 2.9 seconds that's as fast as an Ariel Atom. The paint, on the other hand, is not that pretty, it seems weird.

yeah, thats pretty quick.

This can must be very unconformable to drive on a day to day basis.
All that power and acceleration speed will put strain on your neck for sure.
Turbo charged 4wd cars are no joke out the box.

Absolutely unconformable. This car doesn't conform to any normal standards.
