If the Porsche Panamera were a wagon, would it be any sweeter?
Last week, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn reportedly mooted three new Porsches to fill out the line: something beneath the Boxster, a "baby Cayenne," and a Panamera variant. When it comes to that last model, the consensus among Autoblog commenters seems to be "Give us a new 928 or 944!"But what if instead of a coupe, we were to get a Panamera wagon? A forum member over at Teamspeed has Photoshopped what such at thing would look like, and the results are... well, have a look and decide for yourself. It would be roomy and it would most likely sell (overseas, at least), yet even though it's not the worst looker, we'd still prefer a new 928 GTS.

Hell yeah! I drive an E46 3-series wagon -- complete with manual gearbox! -- and it's been THE best road-tripper.
Sportwagons make awesome machines but, sadly, not many see it the same way. I can't fathom why people continue to drive SUVs over something that goes, handles and stops so much better.

You can make it a wagon, an SUV, even a convertible and the final verdict is that you still have one of the ugliest car that has come out of Stuttgart. if it doesn't hold that title already with Porsche or near blind, never mind blind individuals. Please reader don't get your panties in a bunch I happen to like Porsche. Some of us out there want the real Porsche back.

Sorry Jacob- this has nothing to do with your post, but the original picture is by Theophulis Chin just to let you guys know where credit is due. They removed his watermark and gave him no credit.... Such a shame..

I think that they cant possibly make the current version look any worse this would actually look good.

Way better looking than the current one. Why not that AND a "928"

It certainly would have made more sense than this thing they call the Panamera 'Sedan'.
And certainly more appropriate in styling.

VERY interesting-looking. I like it better than the original.

i think the wagon chop looks pretty sleek, better than the humpbacked original.
here's a smaller, lighter version of the panamera, chopped from the same original press photo:

I like this, a lot. If they build this, I will purchase one and I am generally a CPO buyer.

I was JUST getting used the the look of the Panamera when you throw this thing at me! I'm a wagon fan but this looks too long and too busy. When I blot out the front end, I like the back end. But when they are together with a long door in between, it just looks like it's too much.
But, in a month, it might look perfectly balanced.

I like it alot better than the sedan. The wagon helps to reduce the rediculously bulbous butt of the regular car. Its front end, however, is still ugly.

Correct.

I'd rather have a new 928.

I'm gettng excited about them expanding their lineup... I can't wait for the Porsche minivan, cube van, ride-on lawnmower, tractor, pickup truck, economy car, rollerblades, pogo stick, butter-knife, and other pedestrian products. One day, I hope no one will remember them as one of the finest manufacturers of world-class performance cars. Who would want THAT reputation, anyways...

your use of the word 'sweeter' in the question implies that it's 'sweet' to begin with...
