Forza 3 Screen Shots from Gamecom - Click above for high-res image gallery

While we don't have much interest in what's going on at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany this week, we do appreciate that it's cause enough for Turn 10 Studios to release 25 new screen shots and a video from the upcoming Forza Motorsport 3 video game. There's not really a theme to the cars featured – they range from a 1993 Ford SVT Cobra R to the 2008 Lamborghini Reventon – but we could really care less. It mostly just makes us want to put Forza 2 back in the XBox to try and whittle down some lap times and mess with suspension tuning in preparation for when F3 hits stores in October. Hit the jump for the video or check out the gallery below featuring a Skyline GT-R V-Spec, an A4 Touring Car, the Rahal Letterman Racing M3 and more.

Really? A fox body is in this game now? What don't they have?
On the note of useless old cars that no one cars about, how about a Plymouth Fire Arrow in the game? I'd buy it.

It would be cool if they would add a Gen 1 or 2 Taurus SHO, im still waiting for a game to put one of those in
        • 5 Years Ago
        @Andrew,

Gran Turismo 2 had a Taurus SHO. I think it was a gen 2.

Naw tankd0g, that'd be if we saw the Mustang II.

Love the Fox-Body! Here's hoping that the rumors of this game having the IROC-Z are true!
I'm not sure they pulled off the matte finish on the Reventon very well
      • 5 Years Ago
Looks like they put a lot of effort into the details, I like the smoked headlights on the 93 cobra!
the cars looks very plastic though, which is a shame...
but, whatever... as long as it's a good simulator

If they make the interior plastic looking and squeak around corners (while using the in car cam) its spot on.

Any body notice, the first picture with the M3 the drivers side mirror is missing, but it appears in the second picture of the BMW M#? Just a asmall notice lol

It's visible in the HD version of the video.

      HOLY S_IT!

I haven't paid any attention to video/computer games for the past 15 years. I thought I was looking at a real photo of a real Mustang. But I'm getting old, my generation "played" computer games like Lunar Lander on a Digital PDP8.

A tip of the hat to today's intrepid programmers.

Does anyone have a real picture of that Audi A4 DTM (or know where I can find one)? I want a picture of the back with all of the crazy aerodynamic stuff.

      Thanks

People are hatin on the Fox-Body. That is the car that had legendary 5.0L under its hood. That's where some of the fastest mod-Mustangs come from. They ain't the prettiest things in the world, but the right one can tear you a new one. Plus the 93 Cobra R was a wicked beast.
Ah yes, the mighty 5.0L engine, replete with 175 hp initially, then a dip to 165 hp, a bump to 205 hp, dipping down to 200 hp, and in it's prime the Fox-bodied Mustangs had a 225 hp 5.0L under the hood. That "fire-breathing" Cobra R had 235 hp.

The Cobra was rated at a 14.5 in the 1/4 mile. My 1989 Firebird Formula 350 ran a 14.65 carrying a passenger and cargo in the trunk.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but the Fox-bodied 'Stangs weren't the greatest performance cars built. Sales slumped so badly at one point that Ford was about ready to replace the Mustang with something FWD, which turned into the Probe.

Is it fast? Sure. Do they look and sound cool? Definitely. However, I think these cars need to be seen in the proper perspective.

Sorry to put your car down there, Vanilla Ice.
I'm sure i'll come off as biased, but that's ok.
The foxbody 5.0 kept muscle cars going. Also regardless of hp rating, it was the car to beat, light quick and torquey.
Everyone back in the day had a "i beat a 5.0 story", why? Because they thought it elevated the status of their own car.

Gears, exhaust and a k&n filter and you could run low 13's.
So, a 14k car, with $1000 in mods was smoking corvettes.
        Not bad in my opinion.

It also ended an era of lightweight muscle cars, now everything weighs 3600 lb+.

New cars are for sure safer, ride better, look better, but they are less fun, cost a ton, run no faster, and the cost to modify them it 10 fold.

If you have never been sideways in a mildly modded foxbody, try it some time.
        ozy,

They may not have been the greatest performance car built, but for their time, they were the bang for the buck champion. You're precious Firebird 350 only had 240 hp and weighed significantly more than the Foxes. Car and Driver reported a 5.6 second 0-60 and a 14.3 second 1/4 mile for the '93 Cobra. Yes we know that isn't spectacular today, but it was pretty damn good in 1993 for the price.

Also, while 225hp doesn't sound like much today, the 300 lb-ft of torque made them extremely satisfying to drive, especially in a car that weighed 3200 lbs. There's still small V8s and turbo 4s today that are barely over that torque mark.

I'd say it's about time one of these companies got smart and put the Fox Mustang in there. Go to a local track day (not a BMW or Porsche club event) or NASA event and you'll find that car is probably the third most represented car there. Miatas and C5 Corvettes being the first and second.

They're cheap, fast, light, and have tons of available aftermarket parts. Not to mention that there's 4 classes in NASA practically dedicated to them. You can build a legit race car for $15k including the cage. Probably the best bang for the buck out there next to Miata and they're much faster than Miatas at anything larger than a parking lot AutoX. Last NASA event I went to, an '86 was the second fastest car in the fastest race group. An M3 with probably over $100k in it was the only one that was faster.

I hate to say it since I hate Xbox so much but if GT5 doesn't get one (and it won't), I may pick up an XBox just for this game so I can get some off season time behind the wheel of similar car to my track toy.
