WTCC BMW 320si - click above to watch the video

My my, this is embarrassing. During a full course yellow, Jonathan Adam is all set to get interviewed when KA-BLAMO! – the fire suppression system in his WTCC BTCC BMW 320si goes haywire, dousing him with loads of sticky goop.

It isn't immediately clear if Adam inadvertently triggered the safety system himself, or if the foamy shower was visited upon him thanks to a mechanical defect. Either way, check out the full video of a very sad and sticky Mr. Adam after the jump.

Why didn't he put his visor down?
Because then he wouldn't be able to see anything at all.
Its the same way if theirs a huge downpour and your wipers can't keep up, you need to roll down the side windshield and stick yer head out there to drive.

I'd rather continue wiping that crap off the visor with my glove in frustration than risk getting it in my eyes and making me blind. That seems a pretty damn good idea to me.

        ...that's what she said.
      well that sucks.
It more than sucks, that stuff is next to impossible to remove. It is designed to stick to everything to suffocate any fire. His crew is likely spending days getting that stuff out of everything. That's the reason why most of the guys I race with as well as myself leave the safety pins in the pull switch for the fire suppression system. It may take a second or two more to activate the system, but you won't have an accidental discharge. The downside is, if I was in a crash bad enough to knock me unconscious that resulted in a fire, the safety crew would have to pull the pin before activating the system. And for all you guys below asking why he didn't just put his visor down, really? You can't figure out why he wouldn't have is visor down? Trying looking through a visor that's just been sprayed with Elmer's Glue.

As hilarious as it is... in his defense it happens to about every racer at least a time or two. It hasn't happen to me yet but it will it is just a matter of time.

Much rather look through a visor covered in that crap than get it in my eye. You know, that could perhaps make you blind or something right? Seems a pretty easy decision to me.

Anyone else get the song "Jizz in my pants" stuck in their head after watching this? :D
        • 6 Years Ago
Well, there's no radio in that car nor did he eat a grape... Maybe it was the wind?
Also, why in the hell did he not close his visor? That's the first thing I'd do!

looks like viral marketing to me. airwaves sponsored car with refreshing fire suppressant...hmmm?

Now I see why C&D love BMW so much.
That's definitely a little different than the way I pictured it happening.
He was prob toooo hot and needed a cool down lol....
I was hoping for a massive amount of the stuff to come out. It would've have been really cool to see it go off like the cars in Demolition Man. WHAM! Instant foam filled car!

Thats not WTCC but BTCC which was at Knockhill over the weekend

Also his name is Jonathan Adam, not Adams

I saw him last week at an event in Edinburgh and he was really looking for a win at the weekend... better luck at Silverstone Jonathan!
