Bugatti Grand Sport Sang Bleu the last special edition Veyron?
That's it, ladies and gents. The seemingly endless train of special edition Bugatti Veyrons has ended. Allegedly. After taking the wraps off the Sang Noir, Pur Sang, Fbg by Hermes, Grand Sport, Bleu Centenaire and the quartet of individual Centenaire tribute editions, to say nothing of the individual specials in between, Auto Motor und Sport says that the Sang Bleu edition of the Grand Sport which Bugatti unveiled at this past weekend's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance will be the last special edition Veyron that Molsheim will build. With a reported 250 out of the 300 Veyrons initially earmarked for production now built and sold, Bugatti's moving on to its next project, tentatively dubbed Bordeaux. At which point the whole shpeil will presumably start all over again.

I have never seen a company take a car that was supposed to be rare and special and completely do the opposite.
Lamborghini did it right with the Reventon.
They made 20 and that was it.
At $2 million I should be terrified to drive my car because it is so rare.
The Bugatti on the other hand has so many that you can even rent one in Beverly Hills.

If I interpreted the article correctly, Bugatti stayed true to it's claim of only making 300 Veyrons. If you add up all the regular Bugatti's as well as the special editions (when production eventually ends) you will only have 300. Not 300 regular ones with a ton of extra special editions made after the fact.

Is there a Bugatti Veyron that isn't special?

I was coming in here to ask if any Veyron's were sold sans-special edition, but it seems you beat me to it. If there are more special Veyrons than not, wouldn't that technically make the regular Veyron the special one?
Kitko 8:15PM (8/17/2009)
My thought: Is there like a normal edition of Veyron?

You beat me to it.

Can anyone tell me what does all of this mean? The Sang Noir, Sang Bleu, Bleu Centenairre etc..?

@ N I T E
If my french serves me, Sang Noir = "Black Blood", Sang Bleu = "Blue Blood", Bleu Centenairre would be something like 100th Year Blue... I'm sure someone else can do a better translation but that is roughly what they mean.

Pur Sang would also be "pure blood" or "thoroughbred" according to google translate, depending on how you type it. Makes sense with the whole no paint thing it has going on.
Google also says "Bleu Centenairre" is "Centennial Blue". Close enough though. It agrees with the others Bill listed.

no all the special editions have a max of 5 and this one is a make of only 1. there must be no more than 30 or so special edition cas out of the 300

So they have a great marketing department. How many of us really care? Those that can afford the new version live where our oil to burn the thing is produced.
Nice. I'll take another $1.20 on the gallon so you can burn up your pavement with another version...

And I'm not necessarily "green". I do, however, become tired of the marketing Buggati's staff is playing to. It's painfully obvious - especially in all of our pocket books.
BigWill 11:20PM (8/17/2009)
If you saw one of these things in real life - especially a perfectly polished Pur Sang - you'd realize the Veyron is arguably closer to being art than a car; it just happens to be a piece of art that can do zero to 60 in less than 3 seconds.

Yeah, because there is no one outside of the middle east who can afford, and would buy, a $2 million dollar car.

To add BigWill's point, Bugatti is about art much like Ettore and family were: artists. I leave this quote that you will translate yourself: "Rien n'est trop beau, rien n'est trop chere." which is the mantra.
