Woodward 2009: The heavy haulers and shakers
With vast amounts of sheetmetal and a bed, trucks can be a lot easier to modify than cars. That holds true at the Woodward Dream Cruise, as mod masters jack up, lower and customize trucks of all shapes and sizes. Beyond the beefed up suspensions and 36-inch wheels, we also caught far bigger vehicles ranging from military applications and monster trucks to fire trucks and classic Chevys and Fords. Click on the gallery below to enjoy trucks ranging from the classic to the ridiculous.

Ahhh, so this is where all the d-bags from San Diego went!
No wonder I have not been cut off or forced out of a lane by one of these blasting down the I-5 without indicators this weekend...

I got a laugh from seeing the old truck with the Cadillac Oil Co. sign on the doors. Couldn't one of his buddies took him aside and told him he misspelt the abbreviation for "established"?
He was probably wondering why so many people were pointing and laughing at his truck. Poor guy...

ESTB is the proper abbreviation.

You're a moron. The only d-bag here is you. Funny how no one says that on posts about really fast cars or exotics- because you know the only people driving them are real douches.

too bad the high gas prices of last year didnt last long enough to exterminate these trash bags.

What is wrong with you? Didn't your mommy ever teach you "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it"? Different people like different things- some people like fast cars, some people like lifted trucks, and some people like mini vans- who cares?

I second that. The last fuel run up wasn't quite the asteroid impact necessary to finally kill off the dinosaurs. Maybe next time.

Has anyone ever encountered a pick up truck that drove safely and didn't endanger others in some way?
9 times outta 10, the people tailgating me on my drive home are in big, domestic, body-on-frame vehicles.
Too bad the licensing requirements, and responsibility, don't increase consummately with vehicle weight and size.

@Mr. Clickerson (of a B...?)
Yeah yeah the difference between a minivan and a lifted monster truck is that the latter is 1) driven by complete, yes, complete redneck retards who believe they own the road and endanger other drivers.
2) No other vehicle on the road can match a lifted POS truck in a crash, a car would go right under it. That's the reason why this type of truck is illegal anywhere else, except here in the U.S., where some fools want their 'freedom to drive whatever'. It just doesn't bother them that other drivers' lives are put into great danger even in a 20mph crash.

Its funny though because while the perception of "I'm king of the road" is there, its really not backed up by what would happen in a crash. If one of these lifted trucks hit anything, it would start to roll over and over and over, basically turning what's inside into mush. The suspension can't absorb any frontal impact at speed, it snaps and down goes the rig. And think a guardrail, built specifically to stop cars from falling off cliffs or bridges, is going to stop your monster truck? Nope, down you'd go.

I didn't know there was a Sarah Palin meeting in SD last week??
Modded trucks full of american flags, fat people and beer kegs represent the worst of America: Disregard for everything and anyone else.
