Time Waster of the Day: New Jaguar XJ Online Configurator

We may still be a ways off before customers – on this side of the Atlantic especially – can begin placing orders for a new Jaguar XJ, but that hasn't stopped Coventry from launching its online configurator post haste.
Visitors to the Jaguar website can spec out their dream Jag and find out already just how much they should be putting aside. The configurator lets you choose between the three levels of specification (standard, Supercharged or Supersport) and wheelbase (standard or extended) before going on to choose from a palette of 14 exterior paint colors, six unique wheels, six interior leather trims and six veneers, as well as no-cost options like deleted badging, an ashtray and lighter, leather steering wheel and a whole mess of optional accessories from floor mats to chromed rims. So sit back, cancel your plans for the evening and take the leap.

It won't let me add rhinestones around the nav system. No sale.

The Amirante Alloy wheels on this car is just.....horrid. Belongs on a sebring.

My thoughts exactly...

If the spokes were solid and not split or whatever, they would look SOOO much better. The wheels are the Achilles tendon of a gorgeous car.

Maybe it is just me but I don't get the whole circular upper dash thing. It kinda reminds me of the Lincoln MK VIII.

Interestingly I configured the interior exactly as it is in the picture Autoblog took. The tan seats and headliner, burgundy dash and walnut veneer looks REALLY good. Some of the other options are meh but I guess you can't buy taste. Oh and yes, the Amirante Alloy wheels and all of the polished wheels (at least in the configurer) look god awful.

Hey, my plans for tonight are to watch Infinity's live unveiling. Also, I did this a month ago, when the xj was unveiled.

All of the wheel choices look like shields or spinning blades...

God they have ruined Jaguar.
Thank God I owned them when they were beautiful.

It is indeed a time waster.
The warning triangle should be a standard item. I dunno how they can make it an optional extra.

I think Autoblog should have a contest, "Configure the UGLIEST version of this car!". It would be a lot of fun for us to compete with different cars!

After looking at the interior, I think it is more fit for the new Chrysler 300c. The same is true for the grill. Just look how cheap it is a long the outer seems, especially where it meet the hood. Ian Callum can go jerk off.

They need to include a Heidi Klum configurator...
