after the jump

Lee Iacocca helped to create the Ford Mustang way back in 1964, and the original pony car has lived on, uninterrupted, ever since. The one-time Ford division president set out to celebrate the car's 45 year anniversary with a special edition model with the Iacocca name emblazoned on the boot, with only 45 units to be commissioned for sale. As usual, Iacocca did exactly what he said he would, with a unique-looking Stang variant complete with a fresh pony face, a head-turning fastback design, in-set headlamps and Ford Racing performance parts.

To market his newest treasure, Iacocca bankrolled a 45th anniversary Mustang music video, with Frank Sinatra pumping the tunes and southern California providing the scenery. Hit the jump to watch some high-end shots of Iacocca's Mustang rolling through LA, along with liberal use of the hand brake and some random shots of young women openly admiring the silver Stang's lines. At the end, the window rolls down and you know who appears behind the wheel. Thanks for the tip, Richard!

This is my fav. Mustang. And the soundtrack in the video is amazing - both Frank and the car :D

Nice car but some people are still living in the past...

Now I'm not a Ford fan (ducking for cover) but Lido's 'Stang is really Boss. Great lines and paint scheme. Just one question. If I buy a 45th Anniversary, will L.A. Police let me do wheelies on the LA streets?

Aren't they over doing it a wee bit with the blondes? I thought my eyes were going to roll out of my sockets.

I don't like the deletion of the rear passenger glass--I know it's a throwback to the old-school Mustang, but it aesthetically doesn't sit well for me.

I do love the much shorter bumper that gives the car a shorter overhang, though.

        .......otherwise, a beautiful car.

Okay, I've heard enough about the rear windows. I simply figured that covering them up was due to the fastback profile. I mean, the current one's outlines run parallel with the roofline, change the angle of the roofline, and the windows would've looked funky and not properly flowing.

But Jesus H Christ is the fastback beautiful. Anybody know if there's a kit to make regular Mustangs fastbacks?

Not to be captain obvious here, but WHY can't the regular Mustang look that good? The butt on the 2010 (with those ugly turned up edges) is horrendous. This is the 'Stang that would bring me back. FYI, I have a '66 hardtop w/ a 289 (3-sp auto, unfortunately) so I am a true fan...

Bring the side windows back. Looks like a slightly cooler version of the butt-ugly GT-R. And how about some women of color. The chicks were hot, but that look is so "birther" America's daughters.

I didn't know who was going to be in the end.

But after the beautiful blonde, and the other two beautiful blondes... the city center powerslides, the slow cruising, the brash and very cool music...

I can tell you that I was praying to God that it would be a reborn Steve McQueen.

Instead I saw some old guy with wrinkles.

But man did he ever create a beautiful car.

and of course there will only be 45 made...

      "Gimme one with a moon-roof and a 5.0 with 6-speed automatic please"

you obviously don't deserve to drive this car. Automatic?
