VIDEO: Richard Hammond's Honda Fireblade vs... a rocket and a golf ball?
Click above to watch the video after the break
We're not fans of the term "crotch rocket" in general when referring to motorcycles, but in the case of the video embedded after the break, it clearly applies. The sportbike in question is a previous-generation Honda Fireblade (that's a CBR1000RR here in the States) and it's being ridden by Richard Hammond of Top Gear fame. In this case, though, Hammond is presenting for a popular British show called Brainiac.
Going up against Hammond's Fireblade in a race to the finish line is a rather large rocket lifted straight from a fireworks bin and a golf ball hit by a crew member. The winner? You'll just have to follow the jump to find out. Be sure to stick around to the end for the best quote of the video.

have you seen it before? have 90% of the ab readers seen it before? no and no, and lastly, is it cool? yes, so STFU.

Yeah, I think I saw this on the show in late 2005 or early 2006. Next, I think Autoblog should discuss how the episode of MacGyver where they drove 3 Mini cars is a rip off of the original Italian Job movie. Hurry, do it quick before Richard Dean Anderson dies of old age.

Nah, it's not that bad. Since I was born after the first Star Wars movie came out, I didn't get to see it until 6 or 7 years later, but it was still a great experience seeing it for the first time. Not that I am in any way paralleling Star Wars to Brainiac, just using it as an explanation.

Yo, Eddie boy, I was merely asking because I wasn't sure if it was, in fact, an older video. Dear God, lay off the crack pipe.

Why do we always seem to get Top Gear a year later in the states? My favorite show and thanks Autoblog for sharing.

All us cool kids in the USA, who know how to use bittorrent, get to see Top Gear within hours of its original airtime. Oh, and it's the full hour long version, not the edited-down-to-42-minutes-so-that-commercials-will-fit version that airs on BBC America.

What a let down. I was really interested in the gold ball. Average golf balls leave the tee at 180mph.

*golf ball* not gold ball
Soccer Mom 11:44AM (8/09/2009)
The thing is the gold ball didn't leave. Watch closely at the end, and you will see it's bouncing next to the patch of grass ten feet away from the golfer. Unsuccessful swing.

Soccer Mom,
Please tell me you meant to spell "golf" with a d...
