Remember Martin Eberhard's custom rapid charger for the Tesla Roadster? It's now being manufactured and is available for order from EV Components. Want one? First, you need a Tesla Roadster, naturally, and the standard MC120 charger that each and every one of the electric sportscars comes equipped with. Send the original unit along with $960 to EV Components, wait a couple of weeks and, presto!, A new charger will arrive at your doorstep via the friendly neighborhood Fedex delivery man.

The Roadster Foundry Mobile Connector comes with adapters that allow charging at 12, 16, 24, 32 or 40 amps. According to its maker, the RFMC allows even a fully depleted Tesla battery pack to recharge overnight when operating on 40 amps. Want to know more? Click here. Thanks for the tip, James!

  • No. 2 - Tesla Roadsters are in production, albeit in small numbers still, and the company is still with us (for now at least). We've driven it and it's a wonderful sports car - even disregarding the powertrain. Factor in that electric drive and it's amazing. Unfortunately, recent financial issues have threatened the company's future. The investors seem committed to making Tesla survival so far.
