Infiniti teases 2011 M ahead of 3D Pebble debut
2011 Infiniti M Teaser - Click above for a high-res image
On Friday, August 14th at 9:30 PM EST, Infiniti will take the virtual wraps off the next generation M at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and if you can't make the trip out to California to see the new sedan in all its 3D glory, Infiniti will be broadcasting the reveal live on its Future Vehicles site.
Typical of recent Infiniti teasers, the sketch above doesn't divulge much, but we expect a more swooping, organic design compared to the current M, taking cues from the recently reshaped G and FX series, along with a few elements cribbed from Infiniti Design Director Shiro Nakamura's most recent masterwork, the Infiniti Essence concept.
We'll be on hand to provide live images of Infiniti's innovative "virtual M" reveal next week, and you can get a reminder about the streamed unveiling by signing up here.

Lets hope she's still hot with the lights on.

No kidding... I dont' usually like any Infiniti styling. The hoods always look like they are up a half an inch and that bothers me in a major way. THIS though looks promising. I hope its curves don't stop at a tease...

its about time, the M and G are both starting to look stale

The "G" is stale to you?! It just got a complete refresh from the wheels up in 2007.

I'm with him - it still looks old

The current M is very good and very bland like the pre-oragami Acuras.

I'm a 1st Gen M man myself, something bad ass -- almost modern muscle car -- about that sled.

that car doesn't get enough love. there was something incredibly badass and understated about it.

Word, brother. I think of it in the same sort of way as the 300. Very butch, square, mean.
Lee 3:15PM (8/05/2009)
Indeed. Gangsta looking machine, with more HP than the current model.
dwightB 3:33PM (8/05/2009)
You DO realize that the first gen M was this car... right?

Not the last minute badge engineered Nissan Gloria they threw at us 6 years ago.

Thanks for clearing up a confusion that didn't exist. ;)
dwightB 5:41PM (8/05/2009)
Well, the confusion may not have existed, but the fact that you all don't know what the hell you're talking about definitely does...
Lucas 8:31PM (8/05/2009)
We all know EXACTLY what we're talking about. We all like the same car. Go away.

A sleeker profile... not bad.
Now... if it has the FX50's drivetrain and features, but looks GOOD as a mid-large sport sedan, that will be a very nice thing.
nearly 400hp out of 5 liters, with ATESSA AWD... one could do much worse than that. :D
No angry fish-faces, like the FX50 and the Essence concept, please, though.
I like the VVEL V6... the VVEL V8 needs more play. :D

and PS...
along with using the VK50 V8 more... G50 Coupe 6MT Sport+ (enough said. :D )
BigMcLargeHuge 3:01PM (8/05/2009)
I agree, if the G had more torque I'd have bought one already. Everything else on the car is excellent.
V8 G coupe FTW!
BoxerFanatic 3:53PM (8/05/2009)
Even if it cost 50K... 10 grand more than a G37 6MT Sport... with a little 10hp bump to an even 400...
With the 6MT, and RWD with a limited slip... bilsteins, brembos, gracefull slight fender flares to house a bit more wheel and tire...
A more agressive G35 like front bumper cover, with a more sinister grille shape (not so convex and slightly soft...) blackened sport headlight housings, and otherwise monochrome paint...
A glass roof like the G-coupe concept and the Essence concept after that...
and maybe slightly more aggressive tail light shape, and aero rear under-spoiler/diffuser rear bumper, as well...
With the 360 camera view, and a bunch of the other tech that Infiniti is cramming into their top-end cars... equipment wouldn't be lacking. Add HUD, and dark leather and carbon fiber, and stuff like that.... Bold and dramatic paint colors, brighter red, Skyline GTR R34 like bright blue, tuxedo-formal black, pearl white, tech silver, and such...
How would that, at 50, or even $55K, not give BMW M3 V8, and Audi S5/RS5, a bit of a run for their money?
Heck, how would it not be like a junior 2+2 alternative to an Aston Martin, like a budget alternative to DB9, with a V8 like the Vantage... Not on AM's level of finish, or pedigree, but also half the price or less...

Here is the next anything...

It is just a design sketch that indicates the direction of X car. You can tell is going to have distinct and sharp edges that should distinguish it from its competitors...
I hate these stupid sketch posts with a swoop or a slash to announce some form of inspiration from the designer. Just show the car as this is not really a tease it is a waste of time. Anyone can put a swoop or an outline and call it whatever. Show the car and cut out the crap. I am not taking a shot at Autoblog, it is a shot at car companies putting out a press release like this... I guess they have to keep their staff busy with something.
