edo competition takes on the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG
We are used to seeing über cars like the Ferrari Enzo and Maserati MC12 go under edo competition's surgical knife, so we were a little surprised to see a mere sedan like the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG receive edo's tuning treatment. The German tuner clearly saw plenty of potential left in the C63's 6.2L AMG V8, however. As they state in their press release, "457 horsepower and 442 ft-lb are not enough."
To bring the C63 AMG up to supercar standards, edo competition adds a full exhaust system, including headers and high-flow cats, new air filters, and a recalibrated ECU. the alterations are good for 555 horsepower and 501 ft-lb torque. Edo claims the AMG now hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 199 mph. Exterior modifications are limited to new 19-inch wheels and tires, but the tuner says that it's open to customers' individual requests. Full details in the press release after the jump.

PRESS RELEASE:
To hell with modesty... The mid-sized monster causes a stir!
Experiencing this exceptional vehicle on the road even surpasses what it promises on paper. The latest generation of the AMG C-Class offers a perfect blend of unrivalled performance and expressive styling.
Remarkable comfort, sporty manners and long distance capability are not mutually exclusive qualities for this car.
Power in abundance and unbridled V8 goodness are provided by edo competition.
The verdict was unanimous: 457 horsepower and 600 Nm (442 ft-lb) are not enough. A newly developed high-performance exhaust system, exhaust headers, high-flow catalytic converters, new air filters and a recalibrated ECU (including top speed governor removal) boost these numbers to an impressive 555 horsepower and 680 Nm (501 ft-lb). As a matter of principle, all recalibrations done by edo competition are verified on the dynamometer to document the true power output.
The facts about the exceptional edo C 63: 6.3 liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, 408 kW (555 hp), 680 Nm (501 ft-lb) of torque, 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds, top speed: 199 mph – there's no better way to sum up the capabilities of the edo C 63!
The high-performance exhaust featuring butterfly valves is as aurally impressive as it is advanced, monitoring the exhaust backpressure in real-time. The accompanying controller is programmable and the integrated 70 mm exhaust flaps open at a predetermined level of backpressure. The advantage of this system is that it provides a good amount of torque at low revs without restricting the maximum power at the top end. The high-flow exhaust system is made from 100% stainless steel and the stock-like dual exhaust tips underscore the expressive styling.
To provide superior levels of grip, edo competition offers exclusive wheel/tire combinations. Using a new wheel design the C 63 was equipped with a set of ultra-lightweight 19 in. sport wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires. Front: 235/35 19, Rear: 265/30 19
As with all edo competition models, we set no limit to our customers' imaginations. Special interiors or lavish leather upholstery, individual requests are accommodated and executed with quality.
All modifications are carried out exclusively at edo competition Motorsport GmbH in Ahlen.

Yeah is pretty much is, but Benz markets it as 6.3 L anyway.
+992 CCs is quite a lot of rounding up.

I concur. But even for those who won't be caught dead in anything that isn't German have to admit that this is a minor power bump at best, considering the fact that the other -63 models are all generating 500+hp from the factory.

The CTS-V is the better car, but the Benz looks way better IMO. The regular CTS is a beautiful car, but I don't care much for the V's overstated, boy racer look. Pretty looks wouldn't sway me though... I love to drive so I'd still take the CTS-V.

The v has "boy racer looks"? Lol wut?

Good for them! The C-class needs the performance to match it's looks.
Dare I suggest Mars red exterior with black racing stripes? Yes, I dare. ;)

The AMG line is sexy -- I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the C63 -- but I'm not really ready to transition to cars that don't have three pedals on the floor.

Kraftpaket schlecht hin, wobei ich auch schon etwas schnellers von Mercedes gefahren habe. Aber immer hin.

Come on man why would you even compare Mercedes to Cadillac....

Why wouldn't you? They are both cars trying for a similar market.

If they haven't done anything to the suspension I still won't touch it.

doesn't the AMG Black Edition make this one pointless?

There's no C63 Black.

Is the stock AMG really that slow that this is even needed?

If you look on AMG's website, it already says the stock c63 does 0-60 in 4.3 sec....

To be fair, the quoted time in the article is 0-100 km/h.
