Rendered Speculation: 2011 Alfa Romeo Giulia... will it be worth the wait?
Motor Trend has posted its best guess of the Alfa Romeo Giulia (née 159). It isn't a bad looking car, but like a previous speculative take on the car, it look like the Mito nose has simply been pasted on another rear end – in this case, that of the Opel Insignia. In MT's image, The commanding squarness of the current car, especially set off by the angry nose, have been forsaken for a rising, widening body that still offers a commanding stance aided by a giant set of wheels. We're fans of the convex rear, but the bluff sides of the mockup and the C-pillar's run into the haunches takes us back to the General Motors car.
The Giulia is due to go on sale in Europe in the latter half of 2011, so we probably won't see the real thing until later next year.

Too bad. I like the sharp, lean look of the 159 and Brera over the slightly chubby, round look of the 8C and MiTo.

Keep in mind that this is a) rendered speculation, and b) Motor Trend did it.
Motor Trend is, far and away, the WORST source of upcoming model info of all the car mags.

I'm mostly basing this off of how the MiTo turned out. And the 8C, while quite voluptious, hardly has a beautiful face, IMO.
Motor Trend... yeah, their renders aren't great. Better than AutoExpress though.

Mike P, it's 'renderings', not 'renders'. 'Render' is verb describing the action from which you would get a rendering. You call an oil on canvas a painting, not a painter, right? Sorry, I see too many people using that term incorrectly.

Shift, while grammatically incorrect, the term "render" has more or less become a noun in car design circles. Of course it's a shortened version of the word "rendering" and render is still used as a verb but it's common to hear a rendering referred to as a render.

I think the 156 is a better looking car, but really when are we getting Alf Romeo's here again?

Good looking car, but a little bland for an Alfa, especially compared to the 159, 156, 166 and 164, which were all very distinctive and very sport looking sedans. Then again, I don't put much stock in these renderings.

Go render something else, Motor Trend, because you have failed.

I can't stand Alfa's tiny shield grills on an expansive front end. Horrible.
