VIDEO: New Grand Bentley teaser reveals round headlights, big grille are the real deal

Bentley seems to again be following in the footsteps of its corporate siblings at Audi with the latest teaser video
for the upcoming Grand Bentley. Like the last teaser for the A5 Sportback, this one features the company's lead designer, Dirk van Braeckel sketching the replacement for the Arnage.
Unlike the Audi video, we don't get to see the full profile of the new big Bentley, although a bunch of other details are shown along with comfirmation of a spy photo that appeared recently showing the round headlights. Specifically, from the rendering glimpses shown, it appears that a smaller round lamp sits outboard and lower down than the larger main lamp. This is an element that hearkens back to Bentley models of the 1950s. We'll be getting the full story on the new Crew car in a bit less than four weeks at the Pebble Beach Concours where it will be revealed publicly for the first time. You can check out the video after the jump.

Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?

To everyone below stating it looks old: DUH. They are showing an OLD bentley, as inspiration. They do NOT really show the new one, at all. Use your brains people.

what's this, a restored s2?

oh I get now, they had s2 for inspiration

It's 2009 now, not 1929.
Maybe they were confused by the Second Great Depression...

i'll wait until we see full photos. the phantom isn't exactly a looker, it's big, but it's not a looker. this could be quite nice.

I think the Phantom looks good.

One teaser shows vertical grille slats... the older teaser shows mess grille. Looks like there could be a Speed version?

I believe the image showing the vertical grille at top (and the one used in the video) isn't a picture of the new Bentley. It's a picture of an older generation Bentley to show their inspiration. It's easy to see how this could be mistaken for a sneak peak of the new Bentley, though. I thought the same thing when I first saw this picture.

"We'll be getting the full story on the new Crew car in a bit less than four weeks ..."
I think you meant Crewe.

I would bet all the money I've saved for a car like this (up to you to guess how much I've actually saved) that this photo is of the inspiration, not the yet-to-be-unveiled Bent- General Lee... The headlamp technology, alone, is enough to see that.
I would also think that the boys at Rolls would have something to say about the vertical vanes on the radiator grille.

The image at the top of this story is not of the Grand Bentley. You have to watch the video very closely to catch a glimpse of the new front end. He sketches it at 0:50, and it starts to pan around to it at 1:05, though it never shows the actual headlights.

Nice.
I am not a Brit car fan.
But I like good style and something that does not look like every other blob.
That's why the 300(C) was a nice change for regular folk.

Have designers completely run out of ideas? Did automotive design really reach its pinnacle in the 50s and 60s?
