The first Iron Man movie, which came out in May, 2008, turned out to be a very supercar friendly affair. Among the vehicles in Tony Stark's multi-million dollar garage were a Saleen S7, a Shelby Cobra, a Tesla Roadster and an Audi R8. Stark even worked on a 1932 Ford Flathead roadster when he wasn't killing bad guys.
We were assuming the billionaire superhero genius will continue to have a great stable of rides in the next installment of the series, and spy photos taken on set confirm our suspicions. Robert Downey Jr. is seen driving in an Audi R8 V10 Spider during shooting of the film, which is scheduled to be released on May 7, 2010. In one of the spy photos, the V10 badging is clearly visible, confirming that Stark's drop-top R8 will be powered by VW's corporate 5.2-liter V10. With an expected 525 horsepower, the Audi R8 V10 Spider looks like our kind of Arc reactor.

OMG, Even the Camera Rig vehicle is styling, lol.. look like a Mercedes GLK which seems to be lowered a little too or just may be the weight of the camera rig and equipment..
        GLK? That's obviously a first-gen M-Class, dude.
Yea, wouldn't it be smarter to use some truck rather an expensive merc and mod it?

That blacked out GL is HOT. Give me both of those cars and I will have my ideal driveway.
Wow! two people horribly off with what type of Merc that was.. and you consider yourselves car people. Leave your badge on the way out.
Pretty much; your membership to the club has been revoked, along with the guy who called it a GLK.

No one noticed the huge model of a city sticking out of the passenger seat?!! WTF? Who needs a truck when you can just flip down the top and stuff it in the seat. I wonder how that effects drag.

I noticed. This is going to be a great visual gag. Something along the lines of them needing to be at someones office PDQ (pretty damn quick) and Stark offers to carry them. The next scene is him blazing down the highway with obviously "too large to be carried in a car" models sticking out of his car.

        Just a guess.

I didnt notice it at all until you mentioned it, and went back to see what you were talking about lol!

One of the luckiest guys in the world.
Who Robert Downey Jr.? I wouldn't call him lucky, lucky to get a break and comeback maybe, but I wouldn't trade my life with his.

I didn't notice the Tesla when I first watched the film, after reading this I had to go back and re-watch the scene in the garage to confirm.

I cant decide which I like more... the spider or coupe
        • 5 Years Ago
I can. Coupe, please. I'll have the Gallardo as a spider.

R8 Spyder looks great. I'm not exactly feeling the CF mirrors on the white car. The S-type brushed aluminum mirrors would look better. And let's face it, the difference in weight is insignificant on this car.
That car is just damn hot.

      Coupe, convertible, V8, V10... HOT.

Camera vehicles are commonly painted flat black to avoid reflections. I'm guessing the Merc was chosen for its ride quality over a truck and also for the climate controlled extra space inside for the equipment.
Forget the Audi, I want the Merc.

Spider version of a car always look badass for sure. I want to see Tony Stalk in a gallardo spider in the next movie! For more info on supercars [ul] http://www.supercars-spec.com/[/ul]
