When Audi announced it would begin offering the A5 with its turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four for the 2010 model year, we expected the manual-equipped entry-level model to be priced significantly lower than the current 3.2-liter, stick-shifted A5. Thankfully, Audi didn't disappoint. For $36,000* you'll be able to get behind the wheel of the A5 2.0T Quattro Coupe with a manual transmission in Premium trim, with the Premium Plus model commanding $39,500 and the Prestige variant priced at $44,300. Tack on an additional $1,200 onto each model's MSRP if you opt for the Tiptronic automatic gearbox.
Depending on the trim, the 2010 Audi A4 2.0T is priced slightly higher, lower or the same as their corresponding 2009 models, although all new A4s include LED tail-lamps on Premium Plus and Prestige models. The 2010 Q5 3.2 FSI starts at $37,350* and can be had with all-new 20-inch five-spoke wheels, a choice of Fine Grain Ash or Natural Brown interior inlays and a new Luxury Package for the Prestige model that includes leather door armrests and IP, along with ventilated front seats swathed in Milano leather.
Although Audi hasn't priced the 2010 Audi S4, it has released an on-sale date for its 333-hp sedan: August. Expect pricing to follow in the coming weeks.
Make the jump for all the details and corresponding changes for the 2010 model year.

PRESS RELEASE
Audi releases 2010 MY prices for A4, A5, Q5
- Early release of prices required as vehicles arrive to meet strong demand
- Audi A5 coupe adds efficient and powerful 2.0 TFSI powertrain with both manual and Tiptronic transmissions together with standard quattro AWD drivetrain
- Audi Q5 adds interior luxury appointments and simplifies tire pressure monitoring system
- Comprehensive A4, A5, and Q5 model year changes enhance product offerings
Audi moved sales of the 2010 models ahead a few weeks following a successful sell-down of the previous model-year inventory. Sales of the 2009 Audi A5, for example, finished June 168% ahead of the sales pace set a year earlier. Demand for the all-new Audi Q5 has been exceptionally strong since its February introduction to consumers with sales hitting 5,701 so far this year.
Each of these models in the heart of the Audi lineup receives upgrades for the 2010 model year. A4 and A5 now feature LED tail lights in Premium Plus and Prestige lines, A5 gets the same fuel efficient 2.0 TFSI direct-injection engine offered in the A4, and Q5 Prestige offers an optional Luxury Package.
"Despite the economic headwinds that have affected all premium automotive brands this year, we see no signs of interest lagging in these three models," said Johan de Nysschen, President, Audi of America. "That's good news heading into the 2010 model year for our market share in the U.S., which has been hitting record levels. That's good news for our dealers, who are enjoying the enthusiasm the Audi brand is generating. We need to release these new models early because of our proactive management of unsold inventories and because Audi continues to bring new models to the freshest lineup in the luxury sector. Both trends will continue in the months ahead."
Audi expects to release 2010 pricing and model year changes for the remainder of its lineup within the next few weeks.

I thought I read somewhere that the 3.0 supercharged would replace the 3.2 FSI.

Im pretty sure that the supercharged 6 is heading into (already in) the brand new S4's /5's and A6's. Im not sure where else they are, but im sure they will pop up among the line up.
Rob 9:22PM (7/17/2009)
Yeah pretty sure it replaces the low end V8, which I think was rated at like 340 horse, where as in the RS4 it was like 420.
Other Man 9:56PM (7/17/2009)
Yes the higher output supercharged 6, but I also read the "normal" setup with 300 hp/310 lb-ft, found in the A6 for example, would essentially replace the 3.2 FSI across the board in coming years.
mkM3 2:50AM (7/19/2009)
I think that this has been speculated upon quite a bit, but nothing official is known yet.
It does make a good deal of sense for them to offer a 300hp version of the bread-and-butter A4 and A5 like most of their German and Japanese competitors offer in this segment. There is the S4 and S5 of course, but those occupy a slightly higher price bracket (well, S4 price is not yet known, but should be around 50k starting), not to mention cater to a slightly more enthusiast-focused demographic. I think that they would really need to bump the power in the S4 and S5 up a bit though, in order to accommodate these theoretical 300hp A4/A5's. Maybe something like 350hp or 360hp for these models. That would still give them some breathing room for the upcoming RS4 and RS5, rumored to powered by a 450hp version of the 4.2L V8.

A friend of mine has an Audi A5 S-Line with the 3.2 and the 6 Speed manual. Black on black leather. I can't deny that it's one helluva car.
But it cost him $52,000...

They should put that sweet sounding 5 cylinder from the TT-RS in the A5.

I second that. I'm not ready for Audi to move away from turbo's.

I own a 335i and if I were to get an Audi it would be the A5 or S5!

so basically A5 is about $4k more than the A4, what happened to the days when 2 or 3 door cars were cheaper or the same price than their 4 or 5 door versions?

A5 2.0T Prestige trim is a bit pricey at $44k for a four banger turbo. yes.. you get all the bells and whistles. the engine is powerful enough to pull 3700+lb car in roughly 6.5 sec to 60 miles and 1/4mile at flat 15..and quite frugal at the same time, BUT superior 335i couple starts at $42k.
Four bangers stepping up in this day and age... when is BMW bringing back it's 4 pot turbos!!!

A key phrase there is "starts at" when you're comparing the 335i coupe's BASE price to the A5's price with the "Prestige" trim. Spec the BMW out like you're actually like to have it and the price climbs sharply. Just put the Premium package on the 335 and you're looking at 46k, and comparing an AWD car to a RWD car. (Yes, I know in many cases RWD is preferable, but the point is you get quite a lot with the Audi, even though it's not a 6cyl BMW.)
Frank 5:44PM (7/18/2009)
The 3700 lb number is for a current 3.2 L six speed. This car should be lighter than that . There is nearly a 300 lb difference on a Mk5 Golf R32/GTI between a 2.0 L and a 3.2L. This 2.0 L might surprise some people like it did the R32 vs 2.0 GTI.

The A5 looks good but I won't be looking to spend 44k on a 4 banger anytime soon regardless.

I guess you are unaware that you can chip turbos? So that 4 banger can be jacked for another 40-50hp and upwards 300 ftlbs of torque. All while still obtaining 4 banger fuel economy.

The A4, A5, Q5, and the A5 you say? What about the A5?

I'm happy to see that the price to play is now pretty good on an A5
