Curiosity Sold the Cat: Orders reportedly coming in for 2010 Jaguar XJ

Jaguar caught everyone's attention last week with the launch of the brand-spankin'-new-for-2010 XJ sedan and there are already rumors afoot of a two-door version in the works. In the here-and-now, the stoic British automaker says that orders for its new flagship sedan are already up to speed.
According to Jaguar, in the few days since the car's launch, they've already received 55 orders, seemingly a modest figure, but that apparently already puts it at the same pace as the XF has experienced. While some of the orders were placed at the XJ's launch at the Saatchi Gallery in London last week, others have been placed sight unseen. Production is slated to gear up in September with the first units being delivered in January, but from the looks of things, many buyers aren't about to wait around six months to get the ball rolling.

If I had the money, I would order one too.
I like this much more than the S, the 7, and the A8.

55 orders mmmmmm....... really impressive number for a jaguar

That's 3.96 million dollars in one shot if every one of those orders is for the least expensive version of the car. How much can you make in a day?

This will definately sell. Jag has for the time being, raised the bar.
.... I can't wait to see the 2011 A8 :)

I love it. But I can't shake the feeling that those wheels and that rear look very Bentley...

The old Jag XJ was something special, this will be just another car on the highway.

Gorgeous! An XJ design that demonstrates luxury and beauty at speed in a tight skin, even standing still. IT is SO much more sensual than the MB, BMW, and even the Audi. Not trying as hard to fit in, either. It just "is", and doesn't "want-to-be."
As a 30-something racing engineer, designer, and owner of a current superchargered Jaguar, this design makes me want to buy it just to invite ladies to the back seat for a rear suspension test. But at my age-bracket, the XF works just fine for me. I'll look forward to the XJ after I've REALLY made it. A car like this deserves a better garage, or its own carriage house, and a trust fund.
The 510HP, 5.0L supercharged V8 with direct injection and WITHOUT A GAS GUZZLER TAX (Wow!!!) is a sultry, hot, chocolate/port reduction sauce on an already decadent chocolate cake.
EXCEPT for the black C-pillar. Why interrupt a beautiful body line like that? Paint it body color and it looks even sleeker, smoother, more complete. Also, I hope you can turn off the Audi-esque LED eyeliners. They are pretentious, trendy, wannabe, and SO un-Jaguar.
Otherwise, keep up the great work Jaguar!

Relax airswingsman. It's a Jaguar, not BMW, so less is more. Who wants what everyone is driving on the 405?

is it just me or is there something very Pontiac solstice/g6 about the interior... Doesn't seem to really fit with the rest of the car...

Elle looks a lot better in those photos than she did in the photos for the new Mini convertible.

Curiosity? infatuation is more like it, i just love CAllum's new direction. and i'm sure in person it's much better than in the photos. the same was for the XF, which in white looks best. i'm yet to decide which color will suit the XJ best.
