VIDEO: Express mail Top Gear style - Porsche Panamera vs. U.K. postal service

Hamster and Captain Slow race a letter in a Panamera -- Click above to watch video
The latest Top Gear challenge pits the Panamera against Britain's postal service. James May and Richard Hammond race a stamped and mailed letter from the Isles of Scilly to Zanzibar Bungalow, Birsay, Orkney -- about 900 miles over land and sea. The stakes: according to James May, arriving in Orkney after the letter would be the same as saying "Don't buy this Porsche, buy a stamp." Follow the jump to watch the videos and see who won.

Yeah, I've seen the episode.
I simply can't get over the fact they made it look like one of those poor taste custom jobs where someone takes a well known sports coupe and splices in back doors.

+1...yup...it's still ugly. No matter how you slice it. Porsche's own Aztec.

That was one of the most boring TG episodes i can remember, i hope they don't run out of ideas for good now.

It must be those budget cuts they were talking about...

It looked like they still spent a fair amount of money, it just seemed really unimaginative and rushed.

That was a boring episode. I hope they do a proper race in this series!

They definately could have done better.

They definitely would have done better in Germany. Driving without speed limits (on many sections of the Autobahn anyway) and a large portion at night with little traffic, they would have been at their destination long before the letter.

Isles of Scilly - WOW. That is most definitely going to be my home base when I become a wily moustached smuggle pirate.

"looks like a mangled ape" haha.
I was entertained by it. Definitely not their best segment, but as always Top Gear has phenomenal video editing. Was also happy they didn't seem all that enthused about the car. It's such a hideous-looking sedan.

Good piece as usual from TG. Anyone else see the similarities with the 'Vette? (http://goodcarbadcar.blogspot.com/2009/07/corvette-panamera-look-alike.html)

What these 2 videos have convinced me is that the Panamera is even more butt a$$ ugly than ever.
I can't wait till one of my friends buys one so I can laugh profusely at him all the time when I see it.
This car is simply horrible....

It really is as fast as the show makes out.
I sent an RSVP from Plymouth to Thurso, which is 20 minutes from John O'Groats on a Thursday afternoon and my friend received it before 10am the following morning.

I'd like to get my hand on the stamp that can carry 4 adults, 1 duffle bag, and the clout of being a Porsche
