Those previously unconfirmed rumors of Jay Leno making an appearance on Top Gear? Consider them now confirmed, courtesy of The Man himself. According to Jay Leno's Garage, the popular American late-night comedian, talk show host and all around cool guy did in fact visit Jeremy Clarkson, The Stig and the rest of the crew to film a piece for the show's Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment.
From the sound of things, Leno had lots of fun in the U.K. and he specifically calls Top Gear his favorite show on television. With due respect to Conan, we'd have to agree. In addition to filming a few teaser shots of his trips around the TG Test Track, the comedian takes us into the Top Gear Production Office – and let's just say its pretty much exactly as you'd expect from a bunch of car-obsessed men. Click past the break to watch the video. Thanks for the tip, Stephen!

Can't wait to see it this Sunday. He has great taste in cars and shares my opinion that Top Gear is the best TV show period.

...also ha, It will be great to see someone being interviewed by Jeremy that I actually recognize. I usually skip that segment.

Seconded.

I'm often tempted to as well. And lol, yea, I rarely know anyone on there, either. The last American, Mark Wahlberg, was pretty boring of a guest. Some of the guests are pretty funny... like the last guy? I don't know his name. But he made me laugh so that works.
I wonder how Leno will be. I'm sure he won't be boring, but I'm not sure how "funny" American humor is in the UK.

lol did you miss the mark wahlburg 'don't ask me about my band grrrr' episode? Pretty entertaining. It’ll also be nice to see a start that’s a total car nut chatting it up with jezza

Gus, i wish i could vote down more than once, cause you would of gotten about 20 from me on that EcoJet comment.

Love Leno! But Conan just sux. How about a three-way matchup between the Stig, Leno, and Conan?
Betcha Conan couldn't find the gearshift lever! LOL!

I believe Conan still has his SHO so I would think twice about writing him off.

Makes you wonder why Jay wasn't selected as part of the Top Gear US cast to begin with.

Randy - They asked him to do it. He turned it down because he didnt want to ruin it. He wrote an article about it, very interesting.

i dont understand why we recrognized as part of the car culture, let alone comedy...he should just go back to the 80's where i found him doing doritos commercials...

Leno?
The guy is far and away the celebrity who knows the most about cars (all kinds of cars). The guy doesn't follow fads like so many people with more money than wits. He has a true understanding of automobile history, design, technology and performance. Say what you will about his professional talents, but the guy's credentials regarding automobiles are unquestionable.

So I heard you like to eat feces?
Gus 1:05PM (7/10/2009)
Im sorry that car that he had designed (the Eco Jet)was far and away the ugliest pile of crap. It had absolutely no design sensibility. OK. so any sense of him having absolutely ANY taste goes out the window....
steve-o 1:08PM (7/10/2009)
considering his collection of automobilia is much better than his acting or comedic skills, i think you should re-write your question.
Gus 1:16PM (7/10/2009)
That's fine.... so does the sultan of brunai...we just don't really care for his opinions.... yet whenever a celebrity gets on the soap box he's considered an expert....why does the general population give two turds over a celebrity's opinion?
and FYI, given the knowledge and expertise that you guys credit him for, why in the end(after looking all the cars that he has owned) did this Ecoject turn out so downright ugly...and its not just a matter of functuality....doesn't that just discredit his opinion automatically?.... I think so, because in the end owning a lot of cars does not make you an expert.

Why is the EcoJet so ugly? The same reason many concept cars are ugly. I blame it on the fact that many people still associate Jetsons-style aesthetics with futuristic, so if you want a car to look futuristic and technically advances, give it fins and disjointed-angles and glass bubbles.
