Autoblog Podcast #135
Episode #135 of the Autoblog Podcast is here. Chris, Sam and Dan took time out to chat about GM's fast-moving reorganization, Smart's dubious $99/month deal, raising gas taxes as a better way to increase fuel economy, and Shunk's new car dilemma. To wrap up, we hit a question, and that's it – a nice, tidy 65-minute affair. Tell us how we're doing by filling out our survey, if you haven't already, and we'll see you next week. In the meantime, you can drop us a note at Podcast at Autoblog dot com. Thanks for listening!

Id like to add one more reason to why GM does make good small cars. You guys mentioned that the Cobalt is good, but the Civic is better. But the local GM dealers are selling the base Cobalt for 10,000$ (CDN) and the Honda dealers will not sell below 14,000$. I was able to get the dealer to drop it to 9,500 after taxes and such.

The guys mom should get a used Ford Escape Hybrid for around 17000 with low miles. It has high fuel economy, and a lot of space in the back with the seat up and even more so with the seats down.

Don't get an Astra. I come from a GM family and I tend to play favorites, but the Astra is just not good enough. The only thing it has going for it is the sport suspension, which is usually only available in the XR trim, and most of those are three door. If you want an Astra, buy a Mazda3.
