VIDEO: Ken Block works it out on Top Gear with Captain Slow in tow

Click above to watch video after the jump
If there had been awards handed out to the preeminent forces in online automotive video over the past few years, surely Top Gear and rallyist Ken Block would have been shortlisted for the honor. Naturally, you'd expect that pairing the two Internet institutions would result in an amazing bit of film... and you'd be entirely correct.
What follows in the video posted after the jump is 6 minutes and 45 seconds of gobsmacking automotive artistry and top-flight production, with Block's 380-horsepower Subaru WRX STI drilling in and around an airport in California with a bug-eyed James May cinched into the passenger seat. Did we mention the appearance of Ricky Carmichael, perhaps the winningest motocross racer of all time? Click through the jump to witness the gorgeously controlled display of mechanical mayhem. Hat tip to absolutely everybody!

ice_berge_12 12:47AM (7/07/2009)
Why cant this show in paticular be shown in America is a better question...freaking great!
Alex 2:47AM (7/07/2009)
It is shown in American, on BBC America. You know, that channel that nobody watches.

Because Detroit and their fans can't take criticism. Sarcastic or otherwise.

@ doc b , BBC is a state owned TV station , people pay TV taxes for the BBC. in the US all TV stations are companies that need money from commercials to survive. you can't have a Hyundai commercial during a TV show and 30 seconds later the show host says that all Hyundais are crap. even if it is a joke, it's not good for business.
not to mention all the politically incorrect things the TG guys are saying. they would be crucified in the US for that.

That just looked a ton of fun, with the small planes moving around while he is flying by sideways at 100 mph, then the barrier sqaure that he is just doing a donuts none stop, to the race with the motorcycle. I bet Captian slow was holding on for dear life.

Yeah, this was a fun piece of film to watch. I know James said afterwords that he wasn't impressed, but that was an act... he must have had a ball riding shotgun in that thing.
...dammit, I'm jealous of James May, recently he gets to ride shotgun with Ken Block AND in a U2 at 70,000 feet...

This was some amazing stuff
If they had never said anything about budget cuts I would never have suspected a thing so far this season

Yay! That was really awesome, I think it was even better than Ken's 2nd gymkhana video... That was a great episode as well!!!

So....what would it take so I could ride shotgun?

A British accent, long hair, a dislike for any nation that was an Axis power, and a unfaltering loyalty to the Queen.

Personally I think it's better than Gymkhana 2. I thought the sliding over lightbulbs and the paintball bit in that one were silly and unneccesary. Watching the amazing driving is cool enough without the need for props. This one is all just awesome driving.
I find going over a motocross jump in a car is way cooler finisher than sliding under a trailer rigged to explode. Again, no need for props and pyrotecnics; just the car, the scenery, and the driving.

Yeah I'll admit the whole Rob Dyrdek paintball part was lame, I just thought the angles and cinematography were better on the informercial..

I road with Pastrana once. It was insane. If you ever have a chance to ride with one of these guys do it! I can no longer go on rollercoasters, they are just too boring.
