Happy Independence Day from Autoblog
Today, we in the United States celebrate Independence Day; a day full of backyard celebrations with family and friends, tasty food on the grill, an abundance of refreshing beverages, and, in towns across America, fireworks displays that close the day of celebration in grand fashion. As we like to do each year on July 4th, we're giving you just one bit of required reading before you head out for all the festivities. Without that document, we have nothing to celebrate, but because of it and the courage of those who fought for its ideals, we have 233 years of history to commemorate today.

As a transplant employee (i.e. someone who should have been hoping to see domestic OEMs go away, leaving the market to us), let me say that, if the only reason you'd piss on GM is that an activist government stepped in to prevent a wholesale liquidation of the American car company with the biggest footprint in the industry... or if this is politically motivated,... then, all I can say is shame on you for turning a simple wish by AB to enjoy the anniversary of our country's founding into a politics-first statement.
As we celebrate the founding of our country, a founding and history marked by selfless-ness & fairness, I'd like to wish all of my brethren at GM & Chrysler the absolute best in luck & fortune for the rest of the year, with even more fervent wishes that you guys return with a vengeance as the market returns. I, for one, will be looking forward to the GM I.P.O.

Cobalt SS Turbo, Corvette, 2010 Mustang, new Buick LaCrosse, Taurus SHO, new Ford Fusion, Camaro, Challenger, etc etc...
It makes my heart sink watching the auto companies struggle when they're putting out great products right now.
Someone do a burnout in their Corvette Z06 for me today, please?

+1 If I saw a Zo6 do a burnout today it would make my day. It also makes me sad watching people buy inferior vehicles and thinking they are superior to american cars soley based on the fact that they are japanese.

Yeah. I started a website, fordgtprices.com, to drive the prices down, then bought one for MSRP, and sold it 6 months later.
Hated the doors, and the zero luggage space (not even enough for a weekend trip).
Mostly the doors. Probably I'm just old.
But I am thinking about getting one again........

Ford last week took almost $7 billion of our tax dollars while insisting with marketing ploys how they have not.
Henry Ford was a good personal friend of Hitler and even paid for books to spew Hitler's BS.
Yeah Ford is America's best friend :-(
I just did a tire ripping burn out in my Corvette but better was last week at the drag strip when racing against a POS GT-Ricer.
On purpose I stepped on the brakes before the finish line so the jerkoff in the riceball saw the brake lights.
Dude was all mouth and no balls as the next round he went into another lane so he would not have to race (lose) against my 10 year old American sports cars.
We love stomping ricers and eurosnobs. :-)

Dear Autoblog: Thank you for the link to the Declaration of Independence. Although I am an attorney, it is far too easy to forget the historical foundations of our nation and laws. To all of the other posters who failed to note or remark on this - shame on you. This isn't about any car company, or a photo, or "stomping" on anyone. It is about the basis of the creation of our nation. Grow up.

love the pic, love the Bel Air, its hard to get more American than the Bel Air, other good candidates would have been a Jeep Wrangler (or CJ), Ford Mustang, Chevy Corvette, any pickup, hot rod, 4-4-2, Barracuda, GTX, AMX, etc... etc...
I absolutely love American automotive history, such a shame it's in dire straights these days.
I always wondered what would George Washington think these days, anyways, my hat is off to our founding fathers and happy birthday America!
I am proud to be American for better or for worse.
