Porsche to break Guinness World Record using treadmills

The Porsche Human Performance Center is a part of Porsche's Driving Experience Center at Silverstone. At the latter facility they'll show you how to be the best racing driver. The former facility is to train you to become the fittest racing driver, with a team of instructors to assess and create driver-specific training regimes.
Porsche wants to show just how good its instructors are by setting twelve of them on a treadmill during this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed and seeing how far they can run. The distance record for relay runners on treadmills over 48 hours is 495.76 miles -- that averages each person running more than 20 miles each day. If you tire of the on-track festivities and want to work off some pastries, there will be a second treadmill where you can pace yourself against them.

From the Inside Line article:
"The participants include a man who holds the current world record for the fastest marathon time run in a clown suit (2 hours, 50 minutes)."
I guess there's an official world record for anything and everything.

I wonder if they have categories for us non-athletic types, like "world record for the fastest marathon time while chain smoking cigarettes"

clown suit or not that is still a pretty good marathon time. i think its something like 1.6% of people who run marathons in a year break the 3 hour mark.

Technically you have finish 42km. You'll propably run out of steam...eh...smoke...never mind...after 500 meters to sit down at a Starbucks. ;)

That would suck being passed up by a man in a clown suit.

@Stumpy
Yeah, it would suck to get passed by a clown while running a marathon.
But then it would be okay to trip him, because hey, he's a clown, and making clowns fall is funny.
And that's what sports is all about: making the other guy fall down go boom.
[this is starting to feel like a Deep Thought]

Sometimes I ask myself, why do I not live in Stuttgart?

As far as Porsches go, give me a 904 over anything else. Best German car ever has to be the Mercedes Benz 300 SL with the gull wing doors from the mid-50s.

They've done it already! The team went past the current record at around 8.20 this morning with over 3 1/2 hours to go so they're probably going to add at least 50K to the distance by the time they finish at 12. The guy that holds the clown marathon record also holds the Elvis record at 2.53 set in Edinburgh this year.

20 miles, Porsche can do it in couple minutes. When it comes to human, 20 miles a day, really huge. Running too much isn't good health way to exercise, it remains me what a fitness specialist who worked in lifespanfitness.com.au said. It is harm to your joint.
Does it really need strong muscles like Schwarzenegger to drive racing car?
