Retrotastic Render: Bugatti Stratos Concept

French graphic designer Bruno Delusso didn't want to be bothered with the engineering and mechanical issues that plague the average concept car – he just wanted to create something stunning. So by throwing production feasibility, drivetrain components and caution to the wind, he succeeded.
Inspired by the Bugatti Type 57, Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Mille Miglia and Raymond Loewy's locomotive designs, Delusso rendered up this: the Bugatti Stratos. Aside from the rear window and grille, it's difficult to peg the Stratos as anything more than futuristic, Photoshop-enhanced navel-gazing, but the design speaks for itself, so check it out in the image gallery below.

I could use it as a ramp for my motorcycle.

Very futuristic looking. Kind of reminds me of those 50's futuristic cars. Almost as crazy as the Ford Nucleon.

I like this type of futurism, Retro-Futurism? Cool long sweepy lines!
It is very conceptual but I think the surfaces lack 'maturity' (especially with the flat/sheer front, versus the fuller rounder rear.

Thinking out of the box car designing is like the Cadillac World Thorium Fuel Concept Car

I like that this thing has absolutely no clearance for any sort of suspension...

"Stratos" is a good name for this concept as it definitely looks like some whimsical flying machine.

Just one question... how the heck does it turn? Unless maybe it has rear wheel steering...

It'll turn like a tank! Speaking of which.. I think it could use some treads. Treads look cool on anything.

Man, we were supposed to be driving around in these things in the year 2000. What happened? That looks super classy. Make the rear window bigger, come up with perfect roads, and change out the antiquated contact-drive system (tires) and it'd be great.
Seriously, we don't need "flying" cars... just cars that hover right above the road. We'd also require some type of improved propulsion as well.

This is absolutely stunning. I'd like to see a version that could actually drive on a real road!

Ah, I hate stuff like this... If you are going to draw a car that can't possibly be driven then why not just draw it with one freakin wheel?
