Click above to watch the video after the jump

When the new Knight Rider hit the airwaves, some were a bit disappointed thoroughly livid that Michael's new ride was a Mustang. Since the original KITT was a Trans Am, purists cried foul and said a more natural replacement would be the all-new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. Fortunately or unfortunately, one enterprising Camaro owner decided to take up the task and right the show's perceived wrongs. Camaro5 poster Spaceballone picked up a $135 Scanner Light equipped with 64 ice blue LEDs and three built-in patterns. The hood slot in the Camaro fit the kit perfectly, with juice provided by the car's battery.

Hit the jump to view the video for yourself. It's not NBC quality (that could be a good thing), but we think you'll agree that KITT lighting looks good in blue.

Blue light may be illegal in many states.

      Ok,

Obviously none of you went to Camaro 5 and read the post! I was reading the forums one day and saw that someone wanted to see who would do it and what it would look like. So i remembered i had a blue scanner that (um was not bought from JC Whitney) rather custom made from KnightLight in France (also in post). This thing is a 64 LED 18 Trailing LED scanner not your run of the mill Joe Blow version. And now if you care to look the Car is IOM not Red! and yes RED is the correct color but did i have access to a RED scanner no, the one i had was meant for my 92 RS but i sold it before i could put it on (car was Aqua Blue). To those who hate it; great that is your opinion but there are several- i mean SEVERAL people who have already agreed that they want one but of course in RED or in my Case Orange that has the ability to fade to BLUE. Will it get done? I have no idea, the guy in France (Dan) and I are working to create one, and meant for those who like to see things from their childhood TV shows come back. To the Ricer comment: ...Really? Did you ever watch Knight Rider? Did you condemn K.I.T.T to being a ricer? If so then why even speak seeing as how that car gave life once again to a dying breed. In NJ and in most of the US Blue & Red Lights are ILLEGAL (Captin Obvious taught me that) This was just for fun and no the light is not mounted to any Camaro yet! Thanks and hope you guys can continue to have you civilized convo's.

Wow, it's the Burnout:Paradise Manhattan Spirit!
        You're joking, right?

It bears no resemblance to Knight Rider, but it looks exactly like the GT Nighthawk from Burnout Paradise. Blue LEDs and everything. Except the car should be black...
Sorry its not black hence it fails! Be different if the guy had it black and has done the interior done up to a "modern" K.I.T.T. car but alas its nothing but a rice job on a American make car.

2 minutes of the blue LED going back and forth!! After 20 seconds, the novelty wore off.

I didn't even know people still rice out cars these days.
How is that rice? It's not like people think it makes the car go faster. I think it looks pretty cool besides it not being red. Someone needs to do that to a black G8 GXP.

        nahhhh

      Hmmm...

I don't suppose it would look quite right to put that onto the front of a Toyota FJ Cruiser. Red lights with a Black Cherry body? Maybe white lights?

Growing up watching the original, I always told myself I would get a black Firebird and put that scanner on the front. The closest I came was an '83 Camaro, and that car was enough of a disaster to tell me I never wanted to get one of those cars again!

And although I am now pushing the limits into the "old man" territory, I would still like to have some of those lights on something! LOL

OH! There we go! Put them in the window of the front door to the house and wire it to the doorbell, so anyone who touches it gets "scanned" LOL!

No credit needed. A blue light on the wrong car. Two wrongs don't make it bright...
Credit? Credit for what? Spending $25 in a JC Whitney Catalog, and spending 30 minutes to install something this lame in your brand new penis extension mobile? I wouldn't want credit for that either. This is just lame.

well ok, agree that the ice blue light effect looks cool, but red car is fail, putting that on anything other than a trans am is fail, putting K.I.T.T. lights on a car post 1980's is fail
      • 5 Years Ago
but he bought a red Camaro....*sigh*

It may not be a black car with a red light but at least my buddy Dave, his Charger is matching...

Man, I just ordered the blue lights for my 2010 Camaro 2SS. Solid black, white rally stripes. Should be awesome. (And to the broad with the penis extension comment; dont be jealous.)

There ain't no replacement for defacement.
Well, having grown up watching the original series I guess I'll be the lone voice here thinking it's at least slightly cool. Sure, it should have been a black car with a red scanner but at least he went for it. I'm annoyed at all these people dogging on it but then I realize it's the Internet and everyone (but me, of course) is an idiot.
I'm with you on it, I like it. Obviously he doesn't drive around with it like that, it's just something cheesy and cool too turn on every once in a while.
