John McCain tweets plans for next automobile purchase

If you're a politician worth your own salt, you apparently have to buy a car that contains both a gasoline engine and an electric motor. Former Republican presidential candidate John McCain is finally getting on the bandwagon and picking up his own little slice of green heaven, as he's announced on his Twitter page that he's buying a Ford Fusion Hybrid.
McCain's decision to go Blue Oval for his hybrid choice is a publicity boon for the Ford Motor Company, as the Arizona Senator's 777,000 Twitter followers have no doubt taken note of the make and model of the war hero's new ride, much like then-candidate Barack Obama did when he turned in his Chrysler 300C for a Ford Escape Hybrid. With his new Fusion hybrid, McCain will be able to patrol the streets of Washington while achieving a best-in-class 41 mpg city. Now... what will Sarah Palin buy next?

She's a proven moron. She'll probably buy a Saturn.

You're right, she's an idiot. Anyone who claims to get their info from a vast variety of sources but cannot name a single newspaper...or repeats again and again that McCain is a maverick, yet cannot name a single time over his multi-decade career of 'maverick-like' behaviour...anyway...good on John, it is a great car.
A Malibu would have been nice, too.

Obama doesn't need to buy any new cars or open new bank accounts. He just takes the company over on the taxpayers dime.

@ Redeemed-
What company is that? Oh you mean the car company that still exists because the gov't didn't let it fall into oblivion along with thousands of American jobs?

They could have easily gone into bankruptcy reorganization and still be in operation without the savoir acting as puppet master from Washington.

When you compound the affects of letting GM and Chrsyler go under without the initial bailout, it would have not been easy. It would have stalled the USA and then rippled to the rest of the globe. It was the right thing to do.
Now what's interesting is that AB posted that D. Cheney admitted that George W Bush purposefully passed the buck to Pres Obama and Bush let GM and Chrysler fall into deeper holes so that he (Bush) didn't have to look bad on his exit from the White House.

I believe the Palin family has a Sequoia, previous generation (not sure of any others if they are others, which there probably are).
C'mon McCain, you know you want the Fusion Sport V-6 instead!

Whether V6 or hybrid version...McCain will have how many cars now? Parked at how many homes?
He should've started by indicating which current vehicles he was going to either get rid of or replace. Otherwise, he aint't doing the environment no better by adding to his stable of fuel drinkers.
Other Man 2:25PM (6/16/2009)
Frankly speaking, I don't care if he has a thousand homes housing a thousand cars. When I do care is if you preach about how the world is gonna die in such a short period of time yet you ride in personal jets and live in massive homes with energy usage far exceeding what you preach.
McCain did have a certain agreement on envrionmental efforts (which is a long shot from global warming), but as he said, it's more something he wants to look at and such rather than cause panic on something that's been proven false already
BigMcLargeHuge 2:30PM (6/16/2009)
Actually Shawn,
Unless he has the ability to drive more than one car simultaneously, having a fuel efficient vehicle to drive some of the time actually DOES help the environment.
... because sometimes, he'll be in the Hybrid.

Other Man,
When Palin was picked to be McCains Veep, she was driving a Volkswagon Jetta to work.
I'm sure the family car would be something big enough for the kids, like the Sequoia or a mini-van.
Matt DeCillis 12:16PM (6/17/2009)
@Jei.....he can only drive one at a time! People like you make me sick! You have the right, as an AMERICAN, to own as many(homes, cars, etc) that you want. Go live in another country if you don't like it!

Nobody said McCain was stupid. It's nice publicity for him, Ford, and it's a nice car. Wins all around I say.

Snore. What these guys don't get is that their voting base couldn't care less about what they drive as long as they aren't hypocrites about it. Better to not buy a hybrid at all than buy one, garage it, and have a Citation X jet you from luncheon to luncheon.
Wake me up when the first politician tweets that they just took delivery of their 2010 Camaro SS. Now, that's a move I can put my vote behind.

McCain has a late F-body Camaro SS and a CTS.
HotRodzNKustoms 2:07PM (6/16/2009)
I cannot fault him for that choice. It is a nice car, very desirable for a guy who doesn't have the range of motion in his arms to hoon a SHO around DC... hell I don't think anyone has reflexes fast enough to hoon a car in DC!!!

Sure The Mac cant just roll on a Prius. lol Palins new ride would be a Hummer H2 with a supercharger and some machine guns mounted on the hood and itll be called The wolf killer. lol with some added spikes to run over any animal that comes into view.

I seriously doubt any hunter in Alaska drive a Prius into the woods unless they're hunting tree huggers and using the Prius as a bait. Frankly if I live in Alaska I would drive a 4x4 as well.
