Do you remember those Transformers fan videos in which fanboys with a lot of time and not a lot of friends made stop-frame action sequences with their toys? The creative types at Kia must have liked the idea, because they assembled a several dozen Kia Souls to make a video of their own. The end result is something pretty damn cool.
Hit the jump to watch "Kia Soul Rock!" The 1:29 video starts off with the prerequisite car stunts and power slides, and then it surprises with synchronized stop-motion goodness that includes nearly 100 Souls working together to make a rolling self effigy. Talk about your high-effort productions. At the end, the Soul Sport models all head into the cargo ship for transport, but Kia wants to stress that the vehicles used for stunt duty will not be shipped to customers. Did you read the annotation at the end?
They specified those were not cars being sold to the public.
I'm not too surprised, considering I saw a mix of Euro and US spec cars there.

If only Kia spent this much time with actually making a decent name for themselves as a car manufacturer... I haven't seen a car plastered on so many damn things. Xbox Live, MTV, Magazines, Movie Theaters just to name a few. I guess I really shouldn't say much about their marketing and manufacturing tactics, they're still in business...

Uhh, if you were better informed, Kia has been w/ the award winning cee'd (in Europe), the Soul, the upcoming Forte sedan and Koup, the new Sorento and Sportage, the entirely new large ("VG") sedan, the entirely new MPV (no. 3), etc.
Autocar awarded Hyundai-Kia UK's auto manufacturer of the year award in 2008 and Kia Motors was been named Car Maker of the Year by the leading UK motor trade magazine AM for 2009.

Kia DOES make solid cars, even made first generation Ford Festivas from the early days (although based on Mazda platform)
As for seeing Kia cars everywhere in media, that's the point of marketing, isn't it?

I'm pretty sure that what you mentioned as adveritising spots, are prime areas in which Kia's customer base lie in.
You don't exactly see BMW advertising their cars on Nickelodian, no?

Well they certainly have a damn good marketing department. I STILL laugh at the hamster commercials anytime they come on. And using Youtube for this? Smart people they have there.

Pretty neat little spot. Kia is definitely coming on strong nowadays. I see a -ton- of Souls around the streets in my area, and the Forte sedan is now on the lots as well (which reminds me, I need to go down and look at it!).

Where was this filmed? So did they drive that big boat all the way from Korea just to film that 1:29 clip and then load up the boat and go home? Probably not, but it's funny to think about.
