We'll start off by saying that this spoof on General Motors' Re:invention commercial is not exactly fair and not exactly accurate... but it is funny. It comes from an Onion-esque type website with a decidedly sharp take on GM's situation, with story headlines like "GM Kicks Dog, Takes Candy from Baby" and "GM Kills Electric Car, Five Others in Shooting Spree." Sadly most of it is true. Did you forget how last year marketing wanted to "write a letter" to big oil, saying we are breaking up with you, and top management stopped it. Also GM did kill public transportation and GM does build outside of USA, and our lawmakers are incompetent.

Actually GM did kill Mass Trans. They went around the country and bought up the biggest Mass Trans operations and then Shut them down. Come on... i learned that from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Hmmmm... I wonder if VW was buying off toon town when they came out with the Rabbit?

This is a little off topic but not completely an it's not a random politcal rant either!
Does anyone else notice how different the attitiude is in the real version of this commercial versus the snarky tone of their Howie Long Chevy commercials? You know the one where he makes fun of the F-150 and it's "man step" and how GM can't compete with Honda "in one area", that being lawn equipment. I always thought those were and still are stupid commercials for a company taking tens of billions of dollars in aid and still found themselves in bankruptcy.

I got to agree with you there. So many GM ads have been so cocky over the years. "The Heartbeat of America" was the tag line they used as they moved plants to mexico and put hard working Americans out of work. "An American Revolution" as they sink lower and deeper into debt as they continuously produce new cars that are the same two steps back from the imports. Rebadging a Deawoo and calling it American or a Revolution is an insult to us all. Even more so when its no better then a Kia Rio...from five years ago!

It's seems ironic to me that a company in bankruptcy would put out a commercial like this so soon. Makes me weary of them actually making this work (I mean it's only been 15 or so years of trying, why now).
