Forum Spy: 2010 Volvo C70 convertible snapped during Barcelona commercial shoot

Swedespeed forum member al_bcn has managed to capture a pair of what looks to be Volvo's refreshed-for-2010 C70 convertibles totally undisguised. The topless twosome were caught galavanting around in Barcelona as they were apparently being shot for some sort of commercial.
The folding hardtop four-seater looks as if it benefits from a very similar front-end to the Concept S60 unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this past January. Incorporating a larger set of swept-back headlamps and a deeper, less upright grille, the C70's look is certainly evolutionary, but as it's a handsome enough model, we don't see this denting its appeal. Out back, the changes seem to be even more modest, with new headlamp lenses featuring more prominent backup lamps.
Whether there are substantive changes in the interior or under the C70's skin remains to be seen, but judging by the finished state of these cars, we expect to see them debut on the show circuit soon. Hat tip to Erik!

I love Volvo taillights, some of the best and most unusual tailight designs on the market and they have been getting even better with their use of LEDs recently.
Like the new front end much more than the old one, lacked presence, this is going in a much better direction and reminds me of the old P1800 with that grille.

OMG I LOVE IT!! the front end anyways. I think i preferred the tailights on the older one more. Anyway, i like the way Volvo's new design theme picked up nicely on the c70. I think a fashion forward and slightly mean-looking Volvo is genius, because people think of Volvos as anything but!

This new front end looks better than the old one...That being said, I still think it's a hairdresser's car or metrosexual males or maybe for the "ginger" people.
Now if only they can put this new front end to the C30...

Love the updated grille and deeper chin spoiler, but the enormous headlight surrounds look a little cheap. Too much plastic. Hopefully they'll clean that up on the new S60.

Actually I would say that putting headlamps on the rear of a car is a rather radical change...

I hate hardtop convertibles. Although I am not a purist roadster type (good three-ply euro ragtops are great compared to 1976 Eldorado ragtops!) I just can't deal with the extra weight and disagreeable style. And excessive cost and loss of trunk space. Owning an E46 M3 convertible, I'm not real happy about the new V8 M3 convertible...it has as much trunk space as an Eclipse roadster.

Hardtop convertibles seem more suited to parts of the country with more changes in weather, allowing you a little more protection from the cold/environment than a cloth top.
That being said, the hideous rear ends of hard top convertibles seem to be a necessary evil.
It's too bad the newest sebring convertible was so underwhelming, since it offered drivers a choice of tops.

I think the elements from the concept S60 translate well to this car. I quite like it.
Now, for that C30R based on the current gen Focus RS (which is in turn based on the C30's engine in the first place).

Chris Paukert: What kind of automobile "writer" doesn't know that headlamps are on the FRONT of a vehicle or that backup lamps are NOT located in the headlamps? Oh well, at least we didn't have to read about your opinion on the make-up mirrors or pretty paint colors.
