GRID Iron: Honda S2000 successor independently rendered

Lars Martensson's Honda S2000 concept - click above for a high-res gallery
Late yesterday, we showed you the handiwork of 3D rendering guru Lars Martensson (a.k.a. 'GRID'), who had applied his skills to a future vision of a new Subaru WRX STI. Today, we bring you the skilled Swede's take on what a next-generation Honda S2000 roadster might look like.
While this concept has no basis in reality (and rumors of an S200 successor have thus far amounted to nothing), as with the Subie, we find a lot of merit in what we see. Click on the gallery below to see if you don't agree.

Front end looks like a GTR. Yuck.

Looks like an old Z car. Have Nissan make it, call it a Z, and I'm there.

kinda looks like a nissan gtr had a threesome with an EVO X and a Mercedes slr....and that is not necessarily a good thing lol

that's probably what went through the designer's mind when he rendered that...
that front looks god awful. like it was supposed to keep going, but just melted.

Yeah, I was gonna say the nose looks too much like an Evo.

i couldnt have put it better myself, about the cars involved in that love session to make this car. however, i think that besides the SLR-like lines jutting from the air intake (which could easily be removed from this rendering) this is a real beauty

you would think if you're going to design you successor to the s2000, you'd actually make it look like some of the previous S series cars from honda. or at least the s2000. this is beyond hideous, especially the GTR styling cues. yuck. my idea, if you want to take some styling cues, use the perennial looker the NSX, blended w/ the s2000...and made over w/ some of the newer honda traits. end result, amazing looker.

My thoughts exactly. Why can't Honda keep it more like a roadster like the MX-5 or sportier like the RX-8. Mazda has better designs than this turd. GT-R looks nice, but no other car should copy it. Honda doesn't need to think like Geely.

Farmboy: you need to learn to read. This isn't Honda's rendering. It's a third party.

S2000 shouldn't have a grill. The back I like, the front and overall stubby proportions not so much.

Agreed. an S2000 should not have a grill. That is part of their nature. The proportions are not too bad, I just don't like the huge side vents.
It would be interesting if they introduced some design elements from the old Honda S500. That could be a good design if they were to do it right. S2500. Or maybe an S3000.

The roof kind of looks like a late 80s RX-7 or a Porsche 944.
This one really is not as impressive as the WRX.

Too much Nissan & Mitsubishi in it. Very Frankenstein-esque design.

The GTR and the BMW Z4 are easily the ugliest of the "cool" cars on the road today. Why would you copy them? Yuck.

Should look at the S600 and S2000 for inspiration, not the GTR.

Ugh, very uncreative. He straight-up ripped off the GT-R front end. Considering the GT-R was never a pretty car to begin with, not sure why you'd want to do that.

Not as nice as the STI, but there's potential. Change the front end significantly, work on adding some Honda DNA and taking out some of the derivative styling cues... Okay, do all that and you have an entirely new design. Anyway...
