Like you, we at Autoblog will be out and about today, enjoying the day off with family and friends, but we still have posts scheduled throughout the day for you. Before we usher in summer with the parades and cookouts and camaraderie, take a moment with us to remember the American servicemen and women for whom this day has been set aside. Their ultimate sacrifice is something we humbly honor as we salute the departed.
From all of us here at Autoblog, have a safe and Happy Memorial Day.

As stated, a big thank you to our current & former service members.

Too few appreciate the sacrifices they make so we can enjoy the freedoms we do.

I spent some time with our heros yesterday.
Walked the local cemetery. Saw a few of our greatest generation that I knew personally.

      God Bless America.

As a vet I thank you for your comments. The things we did and the people I did them with I will never forget. I started out working at Minuteman III silos in North Dakota in the winter. There is nothing like it. Later I worked on SRAM in New York and 13 years in New Hampshire. We took side trips on New Years Eve to places like Ohio and Michigan for Alert Code changeovers. There was nothing like an FB-111A taking off in the early morning with full afterburner and you are out watching it on the ramp. That is the true sound of Freedom! God's Speed Guys! God's Speed!

Congratulations to your government for getting this one right. Our spring long weekend was last weekend to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday. Remembering your fallen heros is a much more worthy cause. Whether or not you agree with some of the individual missions they are sent on we all take our hats off to the men and women who do the job.
