I'm going to have to go out and see the flex. I just don't believe that anyone would consider the flex with so much more is out there on the market especially the Mazda cx 7 and cx 9. If Ford had made the investment in high strength steel to make the suv lighter then maybe.

Tom: it is my opinion that the Flex is better than the CX-9, but I'm sure others would disagree. I think with regards to interiors, the Flex is number one among all large, non-luxury crossovers. Exterior-wise, you either love it or hate it. Chances are, if you hate it, you'd probably like the CX9 more. It's less polarizing. Regarding weight, the CX9 and Flex are within 100 lbs of one another. Most large crossovers are over 4,000 lbs.

Re: the 17yo who wants a car
Did you guys factor in the possible cost of insurance for a 17 year old kid? Why not fix up an old sleeper Festiva like the one Jay Leno has with a Taurus SHO engine?

Oh about the Cobalt vs a Golf, I just got a base 09 Cobalt XFE for 9 grand Canadian after taxes and all that stuff. Thats pretty good for something brand new off the lot, so there is that if the budget was tight.

I have to disagree with you on saying that MazdaSpeed3s eat turbos.
I own a 2008 MS3 and I have never experienced any issues but I have seen that some owners have had issues with their turbos needing to be replace but I don't see it as a pandemic that would cause you to shun people from the car.
That said I enjoyed the podcast, keep up the good work!
