With reviews of the 2009 Ford Focus RS showing up in RSS feeds and mailboxes, Ford's Forbidden Fruit continues to taunt us from abroad. And then... this. Justin over at FocusFantatics was leaving dinner with the misses in Royal Oak, MI when he came across this brilliant white example of Ford's hottest hatch sitting on the street corner. Naturally, the large "M" in the middle of the Michigan license plate means that the 300 hp, front-wheel drive Focus is piloted by some lucky SOB under the employ of FoMoCo. It's in the U.S. for a reason, but don't get your hopes up – the Focus RS probably won't arrive Stateside until the next-generation arrives in 2012.

Agreed!
If I saw it, I would be so tempted to carjack it and leave the driver stranded on the side of the road!!

Hurry up Ford ! This the small car I want from you. I want it this year, not in 2012.

I want one but, I don't want the 3-series price tag.

OMG that car is porn. Especially with that ugly magnum behind it.

Must have shipped it across the pond.

seriously...i've always been a honda guy. if i were ever to get rid of my car right now, i dont think anything honda has right now would be nearly as much fun as this...no s2000 replacement, and the civic si is fun, but the fun/$ ratio wouldn't be nearly as high as this Ace

The Euro spec Focus is my next Ford! ...until my shadow will never darken the doorway of a Ford dealership.

AHHH, What could have been, had this Focus was for sale in USA in 2007-NOW, i guarantee you that Ford would have dominated small car segment by now.

small car segment? no. hot hatch? hell yes, this will hand a GTI, MS3, R32, SI, whatever the hell it's rear.
Rogue_G 7:38PM (5/04/2009)
The Focus is more than just the hot-hatch you see there. The entire model lineup, including the small-car segment that the hatch comes from, would significantly increase sales.
why not the LS2LS7? 9:11PM (5/04/2009)
Oh heck yeah. If Ford would only have released a $30,000 Focus, they would be dominating the subcompact car market right now.

I'm aware Rouge_C, i've been clamoring for the fiesta for ages. and for the euro focus since we started getting two revision old bs as the American iteration.
Randy 2:20PM (5/05/2009)
Indeed! Ford would be on an A+ Game instead of an A game! Couple more cars and viola, Ford will be on top of what its doing from A to Z....

For me, the best compact performance car ever. Better than the Cobalt SS, better than the JDM Civic Type-R, better than the STi, better than the Renault, and better than the Evo X.

What on earth would make it a better performance car than an STI and Evo?
the wonderful FWD driving dynamics?
It isn't bad looking for a FWD tub, but this is not the best thing since sliced bread.
It is sad that the Mustang can't overshadow a FWD car from overseas, though.
Why can't Ford figure out that FWD is not a good dynamic layout, and that old-school bulky cars on ox-cart-suspension RWD is a day late and a dollar short.
Why not modern styling, with RWD dynamics that are up to date, and modest weight, with a standard 6 or 8 cylinder that produces more power than a good turbo 4... is it that hard to look to the future with an eye on real performance capabilities, from the drawing board level?

Every test I've read or watched has praised the Ford's handling, especially thanks to the new RevoKnuckle system.
It looks better, sounds much better, and has a nicer interior than all those models, plus it handles superbly well. Better? I think so.
