According to MotoringFile, internet keepers of all things MINI, BMW's cutest brand plans to launch a new Special Edition Cooper to coincide with the first Formula 1 racing car ever created by legendary British racer and company namesake John Cooper. To stand out from the rest of the already crowded MINI pack, the Special Edition F1 Cooper will be painted up in a new non-metallic British Racing Green, which will be offset by black hood stripes plus a contrasting white roof and mirror caps. The factory JCW aerokit will also be fitted along with a slew of F1 badges.

Underneath the car's pretty exterior will be the stock powertrain from the MINI Cooper S JCW, including the 1.6-liter turbocharged and intercooled four-cylinder engine with 208 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. Expect the new edition to make an appearance at the MINI United event on May 22nd in Silverstone, England.

Hey Man, I just saw the new Chevy Camaro. I think I am going to start wearing acid wash skin tight jeans and grow out a mullet while listening to Poison. That car is sick! I was also tickled to see the Camaro Parade in Dallas, nothing screams white trash city like that! I'm glad to be a part of it!

Hello folks, since I broke this story three weeks ago and it now seems to be gathering pace, I thought it was time for an update with more salacious details, see here: http://theswitchback.com/news/john-cooper-f1-50th-anniversary-update

The colour is being called "John Cooper Green" within MINI circles, and certainly seems more like a "true" BRG than the metallic version currently available.

OK. So I have a 2004 MINI in the "British Racing Green" which really isn't BRG. This car appears to be a true BRG.

Won't they get sued half to oblivion by the F1 guys?

mmmm another special edition mini? nothing new but a sticker on the hood? look out bugatti and ford, bmw's gunning for you in the 'pointless-marketing-excuses-to-sell-maybe-one-more-car' war.

the majority, actually. It wasn't until sales has slowed that we began to see these special examples, which let's not forget, are selling in bundles of 1, or two, or a few. Just as ford didn't start doing it until initial sales peaked, so too did Bugatti and now Mini.
