Spy Shots: BMW X1 spotted on location in Germany
The BMW X1 has been spied doing doing close-ups for some sort of video shoot in Germany. While the little guy could even be called cute in this photo, and the darker color does it tremendous favors, it's still a strangely proportioned little beast – like one of those cuddly-yet-awkward babies you see on Animal Planet. Maybe it looks best on the trot, but the mass of the rear still visually dwarfs that of the front, and the mirrors jut out like the ears on a hippo.
When the video does run, it will be joined by the tagline, "This is your world." The question is: is this your BMW? We'll see the official version later this year in Frankfurt.

+1. The only BMW models that interest me these days are the bikes.

I wonder when the first X1s will appear here in Leipzig. Uncamouflaged 1series coupés where sighted often and early all around here.

I love how they're using an old e38 7 series to film it.

The awesomest BMW ever.

Did anyone notice the stuntman!/cameraman twenty feet above the road, somehow barely suspended above the (apparently at speed) chasing BMW? Surely anyone at OSHA who reads AutoBlog will faint when they see this awesome display of dedication to one's job, not to mention lack of fear.

Very similar to the Infiniti EX (which flopped in the states). Hopefully the rest of the world is more receptive.

One big reason the EX flopped: the back seat. Getting in and out is a chore -- the door sills are very wide and the door openings far too small -- and the leg/knee room is a cruel joke, much worse than a mid-size Japanese sedan like a Camry or Accord. Hopefully the X1 doesn't have the same issue, but given the size, it might.
Also, the EX's cargo area is not very usable -- tall, but not deep. I imagine the X1 may be the same way in this regard. Lastly, the EX's mileage figures are fairly poor.
The EX drives well, the materials are pretty good and you can get one at a steal right now, but it's not very practical. Like the X6 (which makes no sense to me), the EX is neither here nor there, so sales languish.

Keep it there, please....

with the N54 engine I would give it a look as a commuter car...the roads around here (NYC/LI) are terrible and you need ground clearance for debris but you also need power and brakes.

My thoughts exactly.
Although, the good news is that this SEEMS to look better in a darker color than that urine yellow of the concept. That thing was just gross.

I am a single guy in an urban area. I also care about taking care of my mother - Earth. So luxury crossovers - the smaller the better - are perfect for me. Can't wait to see this stateside.
