Rendered Speculation: Is this the 2011 Renault Clio?

Click above for what could be renderings of the 2011 Renault Clio
Is this the next Renault Clio? A spy shot forum has posted grainy black-and-white renderings of what could be the basis of the 2011 hatchback. While the protruding nostrils raise eyebrows, from the front and rear 3/4-view the car has an engaging line, the Mazda-like upswept creases moving nicely from stem to stern, wavelike. From the side, however, it looks a little stretched out, less like a wave, more like taffy. We'll have to wait and see if these shots have anything to do with the actual Clio, but regardless, there are some interesting elements we wouldn't mind on the real car. You can check out the rest of the renderings and weigh in below.

I agree. My rendered speculation is that is a toyota.
Mazda FTW! 2:19PM (4/26/2009)
Yaris upfront and a lot of new Matrix in the back.

That Toyota resemblance is a total coincidence. So is the fact they've named this car the Yartrix.

instead of regarding Toyota design language, it seems like a logical design evolution under the influence of Infiniti and Nissan's recent penmanship and surface development.
It is more Infiniti than it is Toyota, to be frank.

Looks like someone is scared of the fiesta. The fiesta is bucking car sales trends in Europe

Actually if anything the Opel Corsa has been a huge hit lately (especially in Germany). So two American owned companies are doing well in Europe :)
Happy owner of a Ford Focus in Europe ;)

Are designs out of original, coherent ideas so now they feel the need to make random wavy lines to make it "original"? Sad times.

Umm, is it me or Renault cars have girl names Clio-Cleo, Megane -Megan.

It's just you

Actually Mégane *is* a French female name.
And in Greek mythology, Clio or Kleio is the muse of history. Clio is also spelled Cleo.
So you are in fact correct!

I like the detailing on the sides. The greenhouse reminds me a bit of the Suzuki sx4 but how different can they really make a box shape. The front is Renault at least until re bumper. I'm not a fan of re Dixie Cup dispenser in the bumper. I think these things are just an attempt to hide the massive front ends and overhangs that these cars are forces to have. It's the new fake air vent as far as meaningless styling goes.

Could it be that is the reason why the title is "rendered speculation"?

nope, it's a retouched photo of a dynoc'd clay. so i'd put money on this being official (albeit unofficially released!)
you can easily tell by the solid glass - no lights, no interior....
c'mon Autoblog, i can't believe you haven't figured out the difference between amateur cad/photoshop and the real deal!

well it's cute. I'd rather take a Fiesta though.

Look at the side view. It is Nissan Versa all the way. The basic shape, roof line, and nose are classic Versa.

The Tiida/Versa's profile is practically identical to the second-generation Renault Megane, even though it sits on a stretched version of the Clio's platform. It's easy to see where the Nissan's styling influence came from.

I still see too much Toyota in this. I'm shocked, given the generally bold style of French automotive design.
