Audi is the official luxury vehicle of the New York Yankees, Toyota said it's a sponsor but hasn't said how, and now Ford joins the cavalcade of motorized Yankee stadium financial backers by providing the official truck and SUV of the pinstriped boys. The deal is mostly for signage on the field and concourse, along with Yankees promo materials, with some display dates thrown in (as with the Audi deal) on Babe Ruth Plaza. Ford hasn't said how long the partnership will last, but we suppose it's best to throw coin at promoting trucks and SUVs with the way gas prices are right now. With the new Yankee stadium giving up a record number of homers, maybe Ford can knock it out of the park as well. You can check out Ford's press release after the jump.
PRESS RELEASE

Ford is the Official Truck and SUV of the New York Yankees

Tarrytown, NY – Ford has stepped up to the plate to become the New York Yankees official Truck and Sports Utility Vehicle. The announcement, made today by the Tri-State Ford Dealers, expands Ford's relationship with the Yankees and gives the company new ways to reach fans at Yankee Stadium.

"The New York Yankees and Ford are an integral part of American heritage," said Mark Paladino, Chairman of Tri-State Ford Dealer Association. "The New York Yankees are one of the most successful franchises in the history of sports. As the Official Truck and SUV of the New York Yankees, we are building on that legacy of success through an all-encompassing sponsorship at Yankee Stadium."

When the Yankees opened its regular season at home on April 16, 2009, Yankee Stadium included Ford fixed and rotating signage and the designation as the Official Truck of the New York Yankees. Details of the sponsorship include:

Fixed, Static Left Field Billboard Advertisement
Home Plate Rotating Signage
HD Scoreboard Commercial Advertisement
Terrace Level LED Board Advertisements
Concourse Diorama Signs
Plaza Vehicle Displays
Promotional Day with Home Plate Recognition Ceremony
Promotional Day Exposure in the Yankees Magazine and Yankees Yearbook
Consumer Sweepstakes and Sponsor Branding Programs

The Ford brand continues to flourish in the New York region and leads all other manufacturers in both industry firsts and 5-Star safety awards. The new 2009 Ford F-150, which already delivers unmatched capability and unsurpassed fuel economy, has piled up awards and honors from many of the auto industry's top organizations and publications – including being named Motor Trend 2009 Truck of the Year. Editors of Kelley Blue Books (www.kbb.com) recently named the 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid one of its "2009 Best New Family Vehicles."

      @Yikes
Right now, the title of "Official" for anything of the Yankees is worth what's on that toilet paper.

All I can say is, if there is any American company showing any type of progression it's definitely ford. Their current lineup especially the new F-150 and the Fusion Hybrid are just gorgeous.

      They deserve it.

Well while you're waiting for the NEW Civic which is sold by a company that is based in a country that has Americal Blood on its hands (overly doing the diggs) do us all a favor and HOLD YOUR BREATH!

The Focus that is comming here is not the one that is Europe currently. It's the one that Europe is getting, a refresh of the current.

The Euro Focus has owned the Civic in every European magazine and a far superior car pretty much since it's inception. You don't have a clue how nice that car is until you see it in person.

How can you all be so against an American Car Company?
Are you really Americans? I own 6 cars, all the products of
Chrysler,GM & Ford. All have performed flawlessly.
      1 Cadillac, 1 Lincoln, 3 Mustangs and 1 Jeep.

You'd probably prefer Mitsubishi or Nissan to be the sponsor ?
Sandy, I personally don't feel compelled to base my car purchase on the need to keep crooked Detroit executives in a job.

I prefer to buy the cars I like and want. BTW, I currently have a Ford product, imported from Japan, and a Jeep just like you. The Jeep lives up to it's reputation. A total piece of crap. Constant need to replace things. Currently needs new power steering pump, a leaking sunroof, broken electric motor for the drivers seat reclining mechanism, two crackling speakers......and the list of things replaced by 60K miles was appalling.

        WOW !
        Okay, my record......
2001 Jeep Cherokee (XJ) the original small wagon. The LIMITED model 4X4
To date 55,000 miles. Normal maintenance items, except brakes which did
not need new barke pads until 52,000 miles.
Air Conditioning Evaporator went out (as all XJs did) at 47,000 miles. $1,300 repair.
That's it. Nothing else. Car has had 3 drivers. My parents bought it fopr our son as a college grad present. After working a couple years he bought a sportier car, gave the Jeep to his Mom, & now we share it - but I only drive it when snow is present.
It's the best 2nd car one can have when ya live in New Jersey and have some bad winters. My Town Car is a sled in anything more than 1/2 inch of snow, - but nothing rides better April to October ! I have had NO problems with her. Extremely comfortable..

The press release was extremely well written, I currently drive a Ford and am going to check out there latest line of SUVS. In response to the first comment- the Yankees do have offical toilet paper, you should go to the new stadium and check it out.

Just another smart move by Ford to get cheap exposure to MILLIONS of fans and TV viewers of the Yankees. You'll get to see that big blue Ford oval numerous times on TV to constantly remind you that Ford did not take gov't money and they are leading the comeback in Detroit with tons of new product!

Notice Ford (F) Q1 financial results today, better than expected and the stock is over $5 with a $14B mkt cap (vs. GM less than $1B, and going lower... CH-11).

Cars have kept me from being "rich" all my life! damn things! If I had bought 1 car every 10 years, I'd be very well off now, at age 62, I still like to drag race, show my 2 special cars in car shows, win a trophy or two, now & again. I am they guy who buys a new car and drives out with it and stops to see what another brand has in the showroom ON THE WAY HOME in the car I just took delivery of. It IS a sickness, with no known cure. Right now I am in love with the Pontiac G8 GT-X, but......could have an affair with a Dodge Charger SRT-8 Super Bee Edition !

Well they want to make sure their official truck company is still in business through the 2009 season. Looks like Ford is the only viable choice.

But how many yanks drive trucks? Might as well make a checker cab the official car.
Checker cabs haven't been in widespread us in NYC for a decade or more. The Crown Vic is the current cab of choice, so maybe THAT should be the official vehicle of the Yankees

My money is on most of the Yanks driving Escalades, like most other sports and entertainment stars.

Who's kidding whom? Ford is an American icon and its name shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Audi and Toyota. This is the only one of the big three American car manufacturers not to have taken bailout money. Ford's capable new management together with a really sharp lineup of new cars and trucks makes this a company to watch.
