Shanghai 2009: Geely IG Fantastic Concept makes us go "Awwww...."

If a local Chinese automaker wants to challenge the Smart, then they should do it with something like this, the Geely IG Fantastic (and not this, the Shuanghuan Bubble). It's kooky, and the headlights almost meet the taillights, but most importantly it's original. It also looks to be a three-seater with the driver sitting front and center, flanked by two seats behind. And there's only one door, on the passenger's side. Nifty, and we give it three cheers for Geely. Check it out in the gallery of photos below.

Once the Chinese manufacturers 'get it right' (which will happen soon because they are on a quick learning curve) they'll put many others out of business.
One reason is their low labor costs while our auto manufacturers are still being held hostage by overpaid union politicos.

...let me head off the inevitable argument that Chinese workers lack the rights that other nations have because of union protection by agreeing,but also noting that the unions in the US have gone far and beyond protecting workers rights and into power brokering, politics and other forms of corruption and sloth which have damaged the US auto industry far more than any handful of greedy wall street execs.
It's time for reform in American industry that goes beyond protecting the the Democrat party's blind support of corrupt union policy.

yeah you have to give it up to the chinese they dont hold back on designs and soon I think they will be leading the pack with design ideas.....

If I'm not mistaken, that hood a solar panel... very interesting indeed. Nice to see Chinese automakers doing something other than emulating. I give it a thumbs up for charisma, even it it's not my style.
